Description
Jorge is a blue-skinned ogre who works as an assistant to Koenma, the prince of the Spirit World. He is a character created exclusively for the anime adaptation, as he does not appear in the original manga. In terms of appearance, Jorge is depicted as an ordinary-sized ogre with long, thinning blond hair and a single horn on his head. He typically wears a simple brown loincloth with black stripes.

Personality-wise, Jorge is generally outspoken, laid-back, and optimistic. He often acts as a voice of reason for his boss, Koenma, and is frequently shown encouraging him to have more faith in the abilities of Yusuke Urameshi and his team. Unlike the often-stressed Koenma, Jorge is more grounded and consistently believes that Yusuke will find a way to succeed. Despite his cheerful and helpful demeanor, he is notably unsatisfied with his clerical duties. His personal dream is to work in entertainment, specifically as a singer or an announcer. He frequently bears the brunt of Koenma's frustration, with his boss once going so far as to jokingly suggest giving him a lobotomy to curb his show business aspirations.

Jorge’s primary role in the story is that of comic relief and Koenma’s long-suffering assistant. He is almost always seen at Koenma’s side, carrying paperwork or helping him monitor the activities of the Spirit Detective. He has several key relationships within the series. His most significant dynamic is with his boss, Koenma, which is defined by a mix of loyalty, fear, and mutual annoyance. While Koenma often belittles him, their relationship softens as the series progresses, with Koenma eventually addressing him by name and showing genuine concern for him. He also interacts with the main cast, acting as an off-screen supporter who roots for Yusuke and his friends during their battles.

Throughout the series, Jorge participates in several major story arcs. He accompanies Koenma to the Dark Tournament, where he tries and fails to become a co-announcer alongside the demon Koto. Later, during the Three Kings Saga, he travels with Koenma and Botan in disguise to the Demon World, where he once again attempts to pursue his announcing dream, much to Koenma’s fury. While he lacks powerful combat abilities, Jorge’s most notable and unique function is revealed at the end of the series. In the final episodes, it is disclosed that the entire narrative has been a documentary compiled from Spirit World files, and Jorge is the narrator who has been telling the story all along. This revelation fulfills his long-held desire to perform for an audience, as he finally gets to work as a commentator of sorts for the adventures of Team Urameshi.
