Akane Kimidori is a rebellious, tomboyish 13-year-old girl who becomes the best friend of the android Arale Norimaki in Penguin Village. She lives at the Coffee Pot café run by her older sister, Aoi, whose gentle nature contrasts with Akane’s rule-breaking and prank-playing tendencies, often targeting Senbei Norimaki. Initially annoyed when Arale follows her, Akane’s attitude changes after witnessing Arale’s superhuman strength, and she quickly becomes one of Arale’s closest friends alongside her cousins Taro and Peasuke Soramame. Despite poor academic grades, Akane possesses a sharp, cunning intelligence and devises elaborate schemes, though she has a short temper and can become aggressive when provoked. Early in the series, she carries alcohol in her school canteen, a habit that fades over time. Her special talent is the Cobra Twist wrestling move. Akane’s relationship with Tsukutsun Tsun evolves from rivalry into romance, and a future camera shows them married, together at ages 23 and 73. She dies at age 43 during Earth’s destruction in the Dragon Ball Z timeline but is later revived by the Namekian Dragon Balls. In Dragon Ball crossovers, she interacts with young Goku during the Red Ribbon Army Saga and attempts to ride the Flying Nimbus, but is rejected due to her impure heart. Decades later in Dragon Ball Super, she appears still looking 13 despite being approximately 49. Akane takes part in adventures such as the quest for the Eye of Rainbow in The Secret of Nanaba Castle.
