TV-Series
Description
Aoi Kimidori is a resident of Penguin Village and the elder sister of the more boisterous Akane Kimidori. She is a young woman who works as the manager of the local coffee shop called the Coffee Pot. At the start of the series, she is nineteen years old. Aoi has a gentle and well-mannered personality, which stands in stark contrast to her younger sister's rebellious and mischievous nature. She is typically depicted as a sweet and kind individual.

Aoi plays a significant supporting role, particularly in the early part of the story. She is the first person to be introduced to the android Arale Norimaki, and the inventor Senbei Norimaki successfully hides Arale's robotic origins from her. Aoi appears to be a good friend of Senbei, and on one occasion, she persuades him to take her to the movies. Despite this friendship, she frequently gets his last name wrong. Her primary occupation keeps her at the Coffee Pot, where she serves as a familiar face to the other citizens of Penguin Village.

Her most notable and recurring character trait is her astonishingly poor driving ability. Despite possessing a driver's license, Aoi is an incompetent driver, and her skill behind the wheel is a source of humor. Her driving is so notoriously dangerous that no one else in the village is willing to be her passenger. In one storyline, she takes Arale and the creature Gatchan for a drive, which ultimately results in her crashing her car all the way to the moon.

Regarding key relationships, Aoi is the older sister of Akane Kimidori, a main character and Arale's best friend. Her parents are named Kon and Murasaki. In one instance, an embarrassing situation occurs when a thread from her dress gets caught on a car, causing it to unravel in front of the character Kurikinton Soramame, which leads to her slapping him in her embarrassment. Aoi also makes brief crossover appearances in the related series Dragon Ball, where she is seen working at the Coffee Pot during the arrival of the characters Son Goku and General Blue in Penguin Village.

Aoi does not undergo significant character development throughout the series, remaining a consistent source of calm and comic relief through her terrible driving. Her motivations are simple, centering on running her café and interacting with her friends and family. She does not possess any superhuman or special abilities, her primary distinguishing characteristic being her infamously poor driving skills.
