Description
Momoko Hanasaki is the central protagonist of the anime Wedding Peach, a second-year student at Sei Hanazono Gakuen Junior High. Born on March 3, 1983, she is a spirited and good-hearted girl who is notably clumsy, emotional, and somewhat prone to tears, yet she also possesses a bright, cheerful disposition and a temper that occasionally flares. She is half-human and half-angel; her human father works as a photographer, while her angel mother, Celeste, is the younger sister of the goddess Aphrodite. Momoko was raised by her father under the belief that her mother had died, only learning the truth about her mother's return to the Angel World years later. Like her father, Momoko has a strong interest in photography and serves as the photographer for her school's newspaper club, a hobby that reflects her curiosity and desire to capture moments.
Her motivation to fight arises from her role as the legendary Love Angel known as Wedding Peach. After being attacked by a devil named Pluie, she is granted a compact called the Saint Miroir by the angel Limone, which allows her to transform and communicate with Aphrodite. The goddess charges Momoko with protecting the world's love from devils who seek to destroy it, a responsibility she takes seriously despite her often scatterbrained nature. Initially, like many of her classmates, she harbors a crush on the soccer team captain, Kazuya Yanagiba, but over the course of the series her feelings shift toward Yousuke Fuuma, the team's goalie, and she develops a deep, genuine love for him. In the manga, she eventually marries Yousuke, and their love proves so powerful that it saves the world from destruction.
As the leader of the Love Angels, Momoko works alongside her friends Yuri Tanima, Hinagiku Tamano, and later Scarlet O'Hara to combat demonic threats. Her key relationships include these fellow Love Angels, who support her in battle, and Yousuke, whose bond with her becomes central to both her personal growth and the overarching conflict. Her primary transformation item is the Saint Miroir, which also serves as a weapon for her finishing attack, Saint Miroir Bridal Flash, which purifies enemies with Love Waves. She can summon a bouquet that transforms into the Saint Operation wand to drive out demonic influences. In the manga, she also wields a Wedding Sword and a Saint Crystal, with an attack called Saint Crystal Love For You that absorbs and purifies demonic energy. Her transformation calls include Wedding Beautiful Flower to enter her wedding dress form and Wedding Change Oironaoshi, Angel Amour Peach to shift into her Fighter Angel state.
