Description
Lars Ul MetaLicana is the crown prince of the kingdom of MetaLicana and the brother of Princess Sheila. He is regarded as the kingdom's greatest warrior, known for his ability to single-handedly slay entire armies of thousands. Fifteen years before the events of the series, Dark Schneider had already conquered most of the Earth and was on the verge of ruling the entire world. Lars Ul MetaLicana fought against him in a battle that lasted several days. Realizing he was losing and had no chance of victory, he summoned the Dragon Knight, a colossal mechanical robot standing over five hundred meters tall, originally created by the Twelve Wise Men of Europa. This armor absorbed and multiplied the spiritual energy of anyone who wielded it, and using it, Lars succeeded in killing Dark Schneider. However, the Dragon Knight was cursed; it had been designed to be used against the demon Anthrax, not against Dark Schneider, who was actually intended to be its ultimate wielder. The curse transformed Lars into a baby dragon.
After Dark Schneider's death, Lars disappeared and was believed by many to have died, as no one knew what truly happened. Trapped in the form of a baby dragon, he spent his time searching for a successor to inherit the Dragon Knight. He was eventually discovered by Gara, the ninja master and one of the Four Lords of Havoc, who kept him as a pet. Later, after Dark Schneider was resurrected, Lars began to follow him, observing him closely despite knowing that they had once been deadly enemies. In his baby dragon form, Lars can speak and communicate only with Dark Schneider, a peculiar ability that hints at their deep and unresolved history.
Lars's personality is not extensively detailed, but his actions reveal a warrior willing to make desperate sacrifices to protect his kingdom. His decision to use a cursed weapon shows his determination and sense of duty, even at the cost of his own humanity. After the curse, he becomes a quiet, observant presence, seemingly driven by a lingering concern for the Dragon Knight's fate and perhaps a curiosity about his former enemy. His motivations shift from active defense to passive observation and search for a worthy successor.
His role in the story is that of a supporting character who bridges past and present. He represents the previous conflict with Dark Schneider and carries the burden of that battle. Through his cursed form, he provides a unique perspective on Dark Schneider's resurrection and actions. His key relationships include the deep enmity with Dark Schneider, which later evolves into a strange, silent companionship; his bond with Gara, who became his caretaker; and his familial tie to Princess Sheila and the kingdom of MetaLicana.
Notable abilities include his legendary skill as a human warrior, capable of defeating armies alone. The most significant power he wielded was the Dragon Knight, a massive mechanical armor that amplified spiritual energy but came with a terrible curse. In his baby dragon form, he retains little of his original combat prowess but possesses the unusual ability to speak only to Dark Schneider, suggesting a lingering magical connection or remnant of their shared history. His development traces a tragic arc from a celebrated prince and hero to a diminished creature, yet he remains an important link to the past and a silent witness to the unfolding events.
