Description
Julian Star is the English name given to the character Yukito Tsukishiro in the Cardcaptors adaptation of the anime Cardcaptor Sakura. He is a tall, gentle young man with short, silvery-grey hair and brown eyes, usually seen wearing wire-rimmed glasses that contribute to his scholarly and approachable appearance. As a high school student in the town of Tomoeda, he is known for his incredibly kind and warm-hearted nature, almost always wearing a friendly smile.

Julian's most distinctive personality trait is his endless appetite; he loves to eat and is capable of consuming vast quantities of food without ever feeling full. This is not merely a quirk but is directly connected to his hidden nature. Julian is the temporary human form of Yue, the powerful and elegant Guardian of the Clow Cards who acts as the judge during the Final Judgment. Because his true form, Yue, cannot eat, Julian's enormous hunger is a physical manifestation of him sustaining two beings at once.

In the story, Julian is the best friend and constant companion of Tori Avalon, the older brother of the protagonist, Sakura. Their close friendship is a central element of his life, and the two are often seen studying, working part-time jobs, or spending time together. While Sakura initially has a strong crush on Julian, he remains oblivious to her feelings, seeing her primarily as his best friend's younger sister. Syaoran Li also experiences confusing feelings for Julian, which are later explained as a subconscious attraction to the magical power of Yue hidden within him.

Julian starts the series with no awareness that he is Yue's false form. As his true identity begins to surface, Julian's health deteriorates because Yue's power is waning. He experiences increasing frailty and an even more insatiable hunger, eating constantly in a desperate attempt to stay alive. This crisis forces those around him, particularly Tori, to confront the truth. Despite his gentle and sometimes oblivious exterior, Julian possesses a hidden agility and surprising strength, as demonstrated when he effortlessly wins a challenging carnival game for his friends.

His key development revolves around the merging of his dual identity. While transformed into Yue, his personality becomes cold, aloof, and serious, a stark contrast to his human self. However, Julian's kind heart persists and influences Yue, helping the guardian come to accept Sakura as his new master. Julian's primary ability is his transformation into Yue. In this form, he gains angelic wings, immense magical power, and the ability to judge whether a candidate is worthy of becoming the new master of the Clow Cards.
