Description
Marron Glace is the younger brother of Carrot Glace, though his taller stature and composed demeanor often make him appear older. He is a member of the Sorcerer Hunters, a group dedicated to protecting ordinary people from abusive magic users on the Spooner Continent. Marron is intelligent, formal, and a natural gentleman, standing in stark contrast to his older brother’s impulsive and lecherous nature. He has long, striking black hair and delicate features that frequently cause him to be mistaken for a woman, a trait that once made him a target of bullying during childhood. His older brother Carrot saved him from that harassment, and from that point on Marron vowed to protect Carrot in return.
Marron’s primary motivation is ensuring his brother’s safety and happiness, often to the point of sacrificing his own desires and pleasures. He handles the group’s provisions and generally speaks little, but when he does offer an opinion it is usually profound and dependable. He is the only member of the Sorcerer Hunters who can actively use magic. His expertise lies in defensive Eastern-style magic, which does not require being born a sorcerer. He employs warding magic in the form of paper talismans resembling Shinto wards and can conjure the Four Symbols, powerful spirit guardians. He is also a skilled swordsman, though he rarely draws his blade. In the manga, he plays a crucial role in deactivating Carrot’s monstrous transformations by drawing out the magic within him. Like his brother, Marron is revealed to be a reincarnation of Yaksha, the god of the east.
While generally calm and reserved, Marron becomes fiercely protective when Carrot’s life is threatened, revealing a vicious side. He is often embarrassed by Carrot’s antics but remains deeply loyal. He is pursued romantically by Gateau Mocha because of his beauty, though Marron mostly ignores these advances. His own feelings toward his brother are depicted with an overt, suspicious affection, more pronounced in the manga, and he is sometimes described as asexual. A notable weakness is his complete intolerance for alcohol. Throughout the story, Marron grows from a bullied, insecure child into a confident and reliable protector, always ready to defend his brother and friends.
