Description
Marron Glace is one of the main characters in Sorcerer Hunters. He is the younger brother of Carrot Glace, though his taller stature and composed, mature demeanor often make him appear older than his brother. In direct contrast to Carrot’s boisterous and lustful personality, Marron is a quiet, polite, and gentlemanly figure. He possesses long, striking black hair and yellow eyes, and his androgynous beauty frequently draws attention from both men and women. This physical appearance led to him being bullied as a child, a situation from which his older brother Carrot once rescued him.
Growing up, Carrot protected Marron from other children who tormented him because of his feminine looks. Now that he is older and has developed his own formidable skills, Marron has devoted himself to repaying that protection. His primary motivation is the safety and happiness of his brother; he willingly sets aside his own desires and pleasures to focus on this single goal. He is the only member of the main Sorcerer Hunters group who can use magic. He practices Eastern-style magic, a form that does not require being born a sorcerer, and specializes in defensive spells often manifested through paper wards resembling Shinto talismans. He is also capable of conjuring the Four Symbols, powerful spiritual guardians. In addition to his magic, Marron is a skilled swordsman, though he rarely relies on his sword, preferring his mystical arts.
Within the Sorcerer Hunters, Marron acts as the group’s calm and reliable presence. He handles provisions and typically speaks only when he has something profound or necessary to contribute, making his words carry weight. Despite his gentle nature, he reveals a fierce and vicious side whenever Carrot’s life is directly threatened. In such moments, he becomes ruthless toward any enemy. He does not interfere when the Misu sisters, Tira and Chocola, discipline Carrot for his antics, viewing their actions as a separate matter.
His key relationships are deeply tied to his brother. He is extremely protective of Carrot, sometimes to an excessive degree, and displays a notable closeness to him that can be interpreted as intense devotion. He is also the object of persistent romantic pursuit from Gateau Mocha, the group’s large and muscular member, who is drawn to Marron’s beauty. Marron largely ignores Gateau’s advances and has little interest in romance or sexuality himself; he is described as being effectively asexual, with his entire emotional focus directed toward his brother. He was raised alongside Carrot and the Misu sisters on Mount Saint Hordic, the training ground for Sorcerer Hunters.
In terms of development, Marron grows from a protected child into a powerful guardian in his own right. He learns to channel his anger and dedication into effective combat magic, though his resolve is solely tied to protecting his loved ones rather than any personal ambition. A notable weakness is his complete intolerance for alcohol, which leaves him incapacitated after even a small amount. His abilities, his unshakable loyalty, and his quiet wisdom make him an indispensable member of the team, even as he remains the most reserved and self-sacrificing of the group.
