Description
Boa Marigold is the youngest of the three Gorgon Sisters and a key member of the Kuja Pirates, serving as a younger sister to the Pirate Empress, Boa Hancock, and to Boa Sandersonia. As a prominent figure on the island of Amazon Lily, she acts as one of its rulers and an elite warrior within its tribe.

In terms of appearance, Marigold is a strikingly tall and large woman, standing over four meters in height. She has a muscular, stocky build that developed as a result of intentionally training like a sumo wrestler, eating copious amounts of chanko nabe to gain strength. This represents a significant change from her childhood, when she was slim and more conventionally pretty. She has long, orange-brown hair styled in a way that resembles a cobra's hood and carries a giant guandao, a type of Chinese polearm, as her primary weapon.

Personality-wise, Marigold is characterized as the most stern and stoic of the three sisters, displaying the fewest emotions, especially outside of combat. She is a serious and offensive fighter who, while sometimes playful, is more reserved than Sandersonia. A notable nuance of her character is her relationship with the truth; while Hancock actively lies to maintain their secret, Marigold simply allows the false legend of the Gorgon to exist without telling direct lies herself. She is deeply loyal to her sisters and shares their collective trauma, which fuels her desire to protect their secret.

Her background is marked by tragedy. As a child, she was captured by slave traders and sold to the World Nobles in Mary Geoise. During this time of enslavement, she was forced to eat a Devil Fruit for her captors' amusement and was branded on the back with the Hoof of the Soaring Dragon, the mark of a slave. Four years later, she and her sisters were liberated by the fish-man Fisher Tiger. They were eventually helped by Silvers Rayleigh, Shakuyaku, and the former Amazon Lily empress Gloriosa to return home. To hide the shameful brand on their backs, they fabricated the story that they had slain a Gorgon monster, receiving a curse that turns anyone who sees their backs to stone.

In the story, Marigold plays a significant antagonistic role during the Amazon Lily Arc. When Monkey D. Luffy accidentally sees Hancock's back, Marigold and Sandersonia are tasked with executing him in the arena. She demonstrates her formidable combat abilities here, using her Devil Fruit powers and Haki to initially overwhelm Luffy. However, their dynamic shifts completely when Luffy, during the fight, notices the sisters' slave brand about to be exposed to the public. Instead of exploiting this weakness, Luffy covers the mark with his own body, protecting their secret. This act of profound respect and kindness earns him the sisters' gratitude and changes their perception of him.

Marigold possesses notable abilities that make her a powerful combatant. She ate the Hebi Hebi no Mi, Model: King Cobra, a Zoan-type Devil Fruit that allows her to transform into a king cobra or a hybrid form. In combat, she can spit highly corrosive venom that can also turn into a debilitating gas, use her tail for piercing strikes called "Snake Thrust," and utilize a technique called "Salamander" where she ignites her hair and shapes it into two massive, fire-based snakes. She is also a proficient user of two types of Haki. She uses Kenbunshoku (Observation) Haki to sense and predict attacks, and she masters Busoshoku (Armament) Haki to a high degree, even demonstrating an advanced emission technique that allows her to deflect attacks without direct contact.

Over time, her role has remained tied to her sisters and the defense of Amazon Lily. Following the abolishment of the Seven Warlords of the Sea system, she helped defend the island from Marine and Blackbeard Pirate invasions. Her development is one of quiet strength and respect, having moved from a fearsome executioner to a steadfast ally and defender of her home, forever marked by a traumatic past that was acknowledged and protected by a future emperor of the sea.
