Description
Sakazuki, formerly known by his alias Akainu, is the Fleet Admiral of the Marines, having risen to the position after succeeding Sengoku. Before his promotion, he served as one of the three admirals alongside Kizaru and Aokiji, and prior to that as a vice admiral. His birthday is August 16th. He is an exceptionally tall and muscular man, standing approximately 306 centimeters tall, with a light complexion, a square-shaped face, and short black hair. He typically wears a standard Marine cap and a crimson double-breasted suit adorned with a rose on the lapel, worn over a light-colored, flower-patterned shirt left unbuttoned at the neck. A large, flame-shaped tattoo extends across his left shoulder, chest, back, and ribs, and a smaller black sword tattoo marks his right deltoid and bicep. After a legendary ten-day battle with Aokiji for the position of fleet admiral, he sustained permanent scars on the right side of his neck and face, lost part of his right ear, and grew a mustache and goatee. As fleet admiral, he adopted a white suit similar to his predecessor’s, though he has since been seen again in darker attire. He is frequently shown smoking a cigar.

Sakazuki is the most strident and ruthless proponent of Absolute Justice, a philosophy he follows with fanatical devotion under the personal motto of “Thorough Justice.” He believes in eradicating anything even remotely connected to evil, rationalizing that allowing any threat to escape is a complete failure. This led him to order the destruction of a civilian refugee ship during the Buster Call on Ohara to ensure no scholar escaped. He maintains a grim, dead-serious disposition, shows no tolerance for weakness or sentimentality, and has killed a fellow Marine for deserting his post. He is also a cunning manipulator who uses psychological warfare and deception, such as tricking Squard into betraying Whitebeard. Despite his brutal nature, he has shown occasional restraint, sparing Aokiji’s life after their duel and allowing Jewelry Bonney and her crew to live after finding them defeated. He holds a deep belief that a person’s lineage determines their inherent threat level, fueling his obsession with killing Portgas D. Ace (son of Gol D. Roger) and Monkey D. Luffy (son of Dragon). Within the Marines, he commands absolute authority but is feared and despised by many colleagues, including a notably strained relationship with Vice Admiral Garp. His most defining moment comes during the Marineford War, where he delivers a fatal blow to Ace when Ace protects Luffy, then pursues Luffy and leaves a massive X-shaped scar on his chest. After the war, he defeated Aokiji in a ten-day duel on Punk Hazard to become fleet admiral, then relocated Marine Headquarters to the New World. As a fighter, he possesses immense physical strength, speed, endurance, and proficiency in both Busoshoku and Kenbunshoku Haki. He ate the Magu Magu no Mi, a Logia-type Devil Fruit that allows him to create, control, and transform into magma, an ability considered to have one of the highest offensive capabilities. His signature techniques include Dai Funka, Ryusei Kazan, and Meigo. Little is known of his background, though it is suggested that a tragic event in his past, possibly involving pirates, may have shaped his rigid worldview. As a young Marine, he carried a katana and wore an open red shirt.
