TV-Series
Description
Eneru, also romanized as Enel, is the former tyrannical ruler who proclaimed himself the God of Skypiea. Originally an inhabitant of the sky island Birka, he used the devastating powers of the Goro Goro no Mi, a Logia-type Devil Fruit that allows him to become lightning, to destroy his own homeland. Following this destruction, he and his followers traveled to the neighboring island of Skypiea, where he overthrew the reigning deity, Gan Fall, and established himself as the new, ruthless ruler.
Eneru's personality is defined by a profound and all-consuming god complex. He genuinely believes himself to be an invincible, divine, and immortal being. This belief fosters an extreme arrogance, a childish fearlessness, and a hedonistic lifestyle; he spends most of his time lounging in his palace, eating and being attended to by servants, completely unconcerned with the affairs of mortals. He holds no value for any life other than his own and displays a complete lack of moral qualms about killing, viewing mass destruction as a godly duty rather than a crime. His signature laugh is "Yahahaha". His overconfidence makes him easily flustered by unexpected scenarios, such as when he discovered that the rubber-bodied Monkey D. Luffy was immune to his lightning powers, a fact that visibly horrified him and disrupted his fighting ability.
Eneru's primary motivation is to reach a place he calls Fairy Vearth, which he believes to be the legendary home of God. To achieve this goal, he forced the Skypieans to construct a massive flying ark called Maxim, which he powered with his own electricity and built using gold from the lost city of Shandora. His role in the story is as the main antagonist of the Skypiea Arc. To facilitate his departure, he orchestrates a "Survival Game," a battle royale designed to cull the population of Skypiea and eliminate the native Skypieans and the warrior Shandia tribe, seeing them as unworthy of joining him on his journey.
Eneru has no genuine care for his subordinates, viewing his priests and the fifty warriors of his God's Army as disposable tools. He is surprised when they are defeated but quickly dismisses them as unworthy of his new empire. His primary enemies are the Shandia, particularly their fierce leader Wyper, who harbors a deep-seated hatred for Eneru and is willing to sacrifice his life to stop him. The Skypieans also live in constant fear of him, as his enhanced Mantra allows him to hear any conversation on the island, and he summarily executes anyone who speaks out against him with a bolt of lightning from the sky. His most significant relationship is with Luffy, whose rubber body is his natural enemy, rendering his otherwise invincible powers useless and leading to his defeat.
Following his defeat, Eneru's development continues. He still successfully launches his ark and reaches the moon, which he discovers is indeed the Fairy Vearth he sought. There, he encounters a race of small, robotic beings called Automata. After defeating a group of Space Pirates threatening them, he uses his electricity to reactivate their dormant civilization. The Automata subsequently accept him as their new ruler, allowing him to fulfill his godly ambition and establish a new empire on the lunar surface.
Eneru's notable abilities are among the most formidable in the series. As the Lightning Human from the Goro Goro no Mi, he can generate millions of volts of electricity, transform his body into lightning to evade physical attacks, and move at lightning speed. He can use his power to restart his own heart after it has stopped, effectively reviving himself. He is also highly proficient in Kenbunshoku Haki, known as Mantra on Skypiea, which his Devil Fruit amplifies to allow him to sense the electromagnetic waves of others' thoughts and conversations across the entire island. Aside from his powers, Eneru is physically strong, acrobatic, and displays high intelligence and mechanical expertise, having personally designed and built his ark, the Maxim.
