Description
Lilith, also designated as Punk-02, is one of the six satellites created by the genius scientist Dr. Vegapunk two years before the events of the Egghead arc. She represents the aspect of Vegapunk’s personality associated with evil, embodying his ruthless, malevolent, and deceptive traits. Despite this designation, her character is more nuanced than pure villainy.

Lilith first appears when she encounters the Straw Hat Pirates near Egghead Island. Initially, she views them as targets to be plundered for research funding, showing her pragmatic and self-serving nature. She is known for using violence and trickery to achieve her goals, and she often acts impulsively and aggressively, especially when confronting perceived threats. She has a strong dislike for being ordered around, particularly by Shaka, the satellite that represents Vegapunk’s good side, and the two frequently clash. Her speech patterns are notably old-fashioned, using archaic pronouns and phrasing.

Despite her designated evil nature, Lilith exhibits genuine care and loyalty toward her fellow satellites. She mourns deeply when Shaka, Edison, Pythagoras, and Atlas are lost during York’s betrayal, and she expresses a desire to avenge Atlas. She also shows concern for Edison when he is nearly killed. Her relationship with the Straw Hat Pirates evolves from hostility to reluctant alliance and eventually mutual trust, especially after she realizes the World Government intends to assassinate all Vegapunks. Lilith is the only satellite to escape Egghead with the Straw Hats, and she reassures Luffy that their efforts were not in vain, emphasizing that the other satellites are technically still alive through their data.

Lilith’s abilities stem from her inheritance of Vegapunk’s scientific genius. She has expertise in engineering, particularly in piloting and controlling large mechas and cybernetically enhanced sea beasts. She pilots the giant robot Vegaforce-01, which can move underwater and deliver explosive punches, though it is later destroyed by Kizaru. She also commands a fleet of cyborg sea creatures equipped with weapons, which she uses to surround and plunder ships. Additionally, she wields a Bubble Gun that fires bubbles made from sea energy, capable of deflecting attacks and restraining Devil Fruit users. Her medical knowledge is advanced enough that she is confident she can revive Vegapunk through cloning and restore Bartholomew Kuma’s cognitive functions, though she requires a fully equipped laboratory to do so. After the Egghead incident, she travels with the Straw Hats to Elbaf, where she plans to build a new lab to continue her work. Her role in the story is that of a key ally and scientific asset, carrying forward Vegapunk’s legacy and potentially playing a major part in confronting the World Government.
