Description
Don Primero is the alias of the assassin Daz Bones, who served as the chief officer of the criminal organization Baroque Works under the codename Mr. 1. Hailing from the West Blue, he was a notorious killer before joining the organization, known for his immense physical strength and his status as the most powerful member directly beneath the organization's leader, Crocodile.

His personality is defined by an unwavering seriousness and a direct, taciturn nature. He lives for combat and possesses a warrior's spirit, showing no mercy or remorse in battle, whether his opponent is weaker or stronger than himself. Above all, he is fiercely loyal to Crocodile, following his orders without question. This loyalty stems from a shared belief that friendships weaken a person, yet his actions reveal a deep-seated camaraderie, particularly with his superior. He takes great pride in his strength and accepts defeat as a matter of honor, as shown when he willingly accepted his imprisonment as a deserved punishment for losing.

Don Primero's primary motivation is his loyalty to Crocodile and his own warrior's pride in battle. He does not seek escape or freedom for its own sake, declining an initial chance to flee imprisonment, but readily agrees to join a prison riot and a major war at a simple request from Crocodile. His role in the story is that of a formidable antagonist turned reluctant ally. He serves as a direct obstacle for the swordsman Roronoa Zoro during the conflict in the Arabasta Kingdom, and later becomes a supporting figure during the mass breakout from the Impel Down prison and the subsequent Summit War of Marineford, where he fights alongside the pirates.

His key relationships are centered on his captain, Crocodile. The two share a deep, unspoken trust and act as good comrades, despite their stated disdain for friendship. Don Primero shows particular respect for Crocodile's commands and protects him in battle. His other significant relationship is with his enemy, Zoro. Their fight represents a crucial test of strength, where Zoro is forced to surpass his own limits to defeat Don Primero's steel body.

Throughout his development, Don Primero transitions from a primary enforcer for a criminal syndicate to a convicted prisoner and finally to an active combatant on the world stage. Initially confident in the invincibility granted by his Devil Fruit power, he experiences a moment of shock and humility when Zoro learns to cut through his steel, marking his first genuine defeat. He shows a surprising moment of vulnerability and impotence when he fails to protect Luffy from an attack, leading Crocodile to intervene. Ultimately, his character arc concludes with him reaffirming his path by accepting Crocodile's invitation to sail together into the New World.

His notable ability comes from consuming the Supa Supa no Mi, a Paramecia-class Devil Fruit that allows him to transform any part of his body into sharp, hardened steel. With this power, he can turn his limbs into blades of varying shapes and sizes, making him exceptionally deadly in close-quarters combat. The transformation also grants him a powerful defensive capability, as his steel body can render him virtually immune to standard sword slashes and physical attacks, requiring an opponent to learn how to cut through metal itself to harm him.
