Description
Inazuma, also known by the epithet "the Gills," is a significant character within the larger world of the One Piece series. Originating from the South Blue, Inazuma is a high-ranking officer of the Revolutionary Army, holding the position of deputy commander of the G Army, directly under the command of Emporio Ivankov. Prior to the main storyline, Inazuma was a revolutionary and was eventually captured and imprisoned in the underwater prison of Impel Down, specifically within the freezing wasteland of Level 5. It was there that Inazuma, alongside Ivankov, disappeared from the general population to help create the secret haven of Level 5.5, known as Newkama Land, a refuge for other prisoners.

Inazuma is a member of the "newkama," a group that transcends conventional gender boundaries. This is directly reflected in the character's ability to switch between male and female forms, a change facilitated by Ivankov's Emporio Emporio no Mi powers. This shift in gender also brings about a distinct change in personality. In the male form, Inazuma is typically presented as being extremely calm, level-headed, and serious, often appearing almost emotionless and strictly focused on the task at hand. Conversely, the female form is warm, cheerful, and more openly expressive, displaying a spirited loyalty to Ivankov. Unlike many other newkama characters known for their extreme flamboyance, Inazuma, regardless of gender, carries a more composed and understated demeanor, often seen holding a wine glass with a distinct, almost theatrical pose.

The primary motivation for Inazuma is deeply intertwined with the goals of the Revolutionary Army, which is to overthrow the World Government and liberate oppressed peoples. Inazuma displays unwavering loyalty to Ivankov, acting as the right-hand confidant and enforcer. This loyalty is absolute, demonstrated by a willingness to follow orders without question and to risk life and limb in battle. The character plays a crucial supporting role during the Impel Down and Marineford arcs. After observing Monkey D. Luffy's desperate attempt to rescue his brother, Portgas D. Ace, Inazuma helps bring the poisoned Luffy to Ivankov for treatment. During the mass prison break, Inazuma uses the unique ability to cut through solid stone and metal, creating pathways, sealing off gas leaks, and disabling prison locks. In a desperate last stand to ensure Luffy's escape from Impel Down, Inazuma and Ivankov remained behind to fight the prison warden, Magellan, resulting in a devastating loss and severe poisoning for Inazuma.

The role in the story continued at the Battle of Marineford. While still recovering from injuries, Inazuma hid within Ivankov's massive afro, waiting for the right moment. As Luffy advanced towards the execution platform, Inazuma emerged and used the power to literally carve a bridge out of the stone battlefield, providing a direct path for Luffy to reach Ace. Following this, Inazuma stood with Ivankov to defend the path, holding off countless Marines and even confronting the formidable Admiral Akainu, an encounter that resulted in being gravely injured.

The key relationship is undoubtedly with Emporio Ivankov, whom Inazuma serves as the most trusted subordinate and advisor. The partnership is one of deep mutual reliance, where Inazuma executes Ivankov's strategic plans with precision. Inazuma also develops a working relationship with Luffy, whom the character aids significantly. Luffy, in turn, gives Inazuma the nickname "Crab" or "little crab" due to the scissor-like hands during combat.

Inazuma possesses a powerful Paramecia-class Devil Fruit called the Choki Choki no Mi, which translates to the Snip-Snip Fruit. This fruit allows the user to transform any part of the body into a pair of scissors. The primary strength of this ability is that these organic scissors can cut through virtually any solid material, including steel, stone, and the walls of Impel Down, as if it were mere paper. Furthermore, once an object is cut, Inazuma can manipulate the cut pieces as if they were lightweight, flexible sheets of paper, allowing for the construction of bridges, stairs, or makeshift shields. Two named techniques are the "O Kanabashi," where Inazuma charges while using large scissors to cut through the environment, and "Keep Out," which involves cutting up the ground and throwing the debris at an opponent. In addition to the Devil Fruit power, Inazuma is a capable physical fighter, able to defeat powerful opponents and wolves with strong kicks, all without spilling the drink held in hand.
