Description
Absalom, also known as Absalom of the Graveyard, is a character who serves as one of the major antagonists during the Thriller Bark storyline. He holds the position of commander over the Soldier Zombies and General Zombies, serving as a direct subordinate to the Warlord of the Sea, Gecko Moria, and is counted among the Mysterious Four, alongside Moria, Dr. Hogback, and Perona. His physical appearance is a unique and fearsome result of surgical modifications performed by Dr. Hogback. His body has been enhanced with the jaw of a lion, the thick skin of an elephant, and the condensed muscle power of a bear and a gorilla, making his strength far exceed that of an ordinary human and giving him a bestial, imposing presence.
In terms of personality, Absalom is defined by a stark contradiction. He presents himself as a loyal and dedicated subordinate to Moria, willing to go to great lengths to help his captain achieve his ambitions. However, he is also notoriously perverted and lecherous. He has no shame in using his abilities to spy on women, a habit his own zombie subordinates mock by nicknaming him Erosalom. His primary goal during the Thriller Bark arc is to find a beautiful human wife, and he becomes fixated on Nami of the Straw Hat Pirates for this role. This obsession drives him to repeatedly kidnap her and attempt to force a wedding. He is a hypocrite, harshly condemning the same lustful behavior in his rival Sanji that he himself indulges in. Despite his aggressive pursuit of Nami, he is ironically terrified of the female zombie general Lola, who is deeply in love with him. When not driven by his selfish desires, he can be a serious and effective member of Moria's crew.
Absalom's most notable ability comes from having eaten the Suke Suke no Mi, a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that grants him the power to become completely invisible. He can also extend this transparency to any object or person he touches. He uses this power constantly, both for his perverted hobbies like peeping and for tactical advantages in combat. By making the pair of bazooka-style cannons attached to his arms invisible, he can launch surprise attacks that appear to come from nowhere. His surgically enhanced body also grants him immense durability and strength, allowing him to withstand powerful attacks and manhandle his victims with ease.

His primary conflict is with Nami, whom he kidnaps, and Sanji, who becomes his fiercest enemy. Sanji is particularly enraged by Absalom not only for kidnapping Nami but also for possessing the Clear-Clear Fruit, which Sanji has long dreamed of using for his own voyeuristic purposes. Absalom fights Sanji but is ultimately defeated by the chef's powerful kicks. After being weakened by this fight, he is later knocked unconscious by a lightning attack from Nami. Following the Straw Hats' victory over Moria, Absalom escapes Thriller Bark on a small boat with Dr. Hogback and the defeated Moria.
After the timeskip, Absalom undergoes a significant change in role, becoming a freelance journalist and informant under the pseudonym Absa. In this new capacity, he uses his invisibility to capture exclusive news stories and photographs, most notably breaking the story of the pirate alliance between Eustass Kid, Scratchmen Apoo, and Basil Hawkins. His ultimate fate is grim. He and Moria travel to the island of the Yonko Blackbeard, where Absalom is captured and killed by the Blackbeard Pirates. His Devil Fruit is stolen, and its power is then transferred to Shiliew of the Rain, a commander of the Blackbeard crew.
