TV-Series
Description
Chimney is a young girl from the island of Water 7, known for her boundless energy and distinctive appearance. She is the granddaughter of Kokoro, the stationmaster of the Sea Train. Her heritage is unique, as her grandmother is a mermaid who married a human. Kokoro’s child, who is half mermaid, later married a human, making Chimney one-quarter mermaid. This lineage gives her no visible non-human features, but it does grant her remarkable abilities in the water.

Physically, Chimney is small but vibrant, with green hair styled into two puffy, upright pigtails. She is typically seen wearing a short white shirt over a red and orange striped dress, paired with sandals. As she grows older, her appearance matures slightly, and she begins wearing a conductor’s uniform, complete with a large hat, an overcoat, gloves, and a whistle, mirroring her grandmother’s profession.

Her personality is as spirited as her look. Chimney is cheerful, hyperactive, and extremely curious, often displaying a carefree and adventurous attitude. Like her grandmother, she almost always wears a wide, infectious grin. Despite her mischievous nature, she is an innocent child who often tags along with whoever is around, from her grandmother to the Straw Hat pirates.

While she is not a fighter, Chimney possesses several notable abilities. Her most significant talent is her extraordinary swimming prowess, a direct inheritance of her mermaid bloodline. She has demonstrated the strength and skill to rescue a grown adult like Luffy from powerful ocean whirlpools. In addition to her swimming, she has incredibly sharp eyesight, able to spot distant figures and details at night that others would miss. She also appears to be surprisingly durable, once surviving a violent train crash with only a minor nosebleed.

Chimney’s most prominent role in the story occurs during the Water 7 and Enies Lobby arcs, where she becomes a crucial ally to the Straw Hat Pirates. She instantly takes a liking to the crew when they first meet at the Shift Station. Her sense of adventure leads her and her pet rabbit, Gonbe, to sneak aboard the Rocketman, a prototype Sea Train, as the group heads to Enies Lobby to rescue their friend Nico Robin.

Once at Enies Lobby, her sharp eyes and knowledge of secret passages prove invaluable. She independently follows the Cipher Pol agents and Nico Robin, painting a guiding path on the walls for the Straw Hats to follow. She later discovers a hidden entrance, leading Luffy directly to the Gate of Justice. During the escape, after the group is forced into the sea by the Marines, she is saved by Sanji. She is present for the emotional Viking funeral of the Going Merry before finally returning safely to Water 7 with the others.

Her key relationships define her daily life. Her grandmother, Kokoro, is her guardian and a constant presence. She is almost inseparable from her pet, Gonbe, a rabbit who acts like a cat and meows. Chimney herself insists Gonbe is a cat, a running joke that highlights her childish and whimsical nature. She forms a strong, if brief, bond of loyalty with the Straw Hat crew, helping them not out of obligation but out of a genuine desire to be part of the adventure.

Chimney shows a clear development over the course of the series. Initially just a child who follows her grandmother, she proves her courage and resourcefulness during the high-stakes mission at Enies Lobby. Following a two-year timeskip, she has grown up and matured, taking on the official role of the Sunday stationmaster of the Shift Station in her hometown of Water 7, following in her grandmother’s footsteps.
