TV-Series
Description
Jun Yamano is a young boy who becomes an integral part of the group known as the Samurai Troopers. Often referred to by the nickname Ully or alternative spellings like Yulie in different adaptations, he is introduced as an eight-year-old child living in Machida City, within the metropolitan Tokyo area. His birthday is June 30. Jun is a normal human being without any supernatural armor or fighting skills, but his role in the story is defined by his innocence, bravery, and the purity of his heart.

Jun first appears during the chaos of Arago's invasion, which begins in the Shinjuku District. While on a family trip with his kind parents, a businessman father and a housewife mother, the attack separates him from them, leaving him lost and alone in the ensuing panic. He stumbles upon a confrontation between the Trooper Ryo Sanada and a Youja soldier, narrowly escaping danger when Nasuti Yagyu rescues him. From this point forward, he comes under the protection of Nasuti and the five warriors, who become a surrogate family for him.

Jun is characterized by a cheerful optimism and remarkable bravery, often standing firm in the face of terrifying enemies despite having no armor or combat training. He looks up to the Samurai Troopers as his older brothers, affectionately calling them nii-chan, with Ryo being a particular object of admiration. In an attempt to fit in with their heroic identities, he gives himself the self-styled title Reppu no Jun, meaning Jun of the Strong or Violent Wind. His innocent and uncorrupted worldview is his greatest strength. During the second television season, this purity allows him to become the keeper of the Inochi no Magatama, the Jewel of Life. Because he harbors no greedy or malevolent thoughts, he is able to unknowingly unlock and wield its sacred powers, making him a crucial asset in the final battle against Arago. This same lack of darkness grants him and Nasuti immunity to the corrupting influence of the Youja World.

In terms of key relationships, Jun forms a particularly deep bond with Byakuen, the massive white tiger who is Ryo's steadfast companion. The tiger aids him during the initial attack in Shinjuku, and Jun trusts the beast implicitly. Outside of battle, he is often seen keeping Byakuen company, and one of his favorite pastimes is grabbing onto the tiger's tail and being pulled along while riding his trusty skateboard. He also shares a familial connection with Nasuti, whom he calls onee-chan, or big sister. While the Troopers sometimes find his youthful exuberance trying, they care for him deeply, and characters like Touma Hashiba treat him like a younger brother.

Although a child, Jun is far from helpless. He demonstrates notable psychological insight and strategic thinking, such as when he deliberately feigns a severe injury during a fight. This act provokes the warrior Shu Rei Fang, who had lost faith in his armor, to reclaim his lost power out of a desire to protect the boy. His emotional resilience and unwavering spirit serve as a moral compass for the older warriors, reminding them of what they are fighting to protect.

Over the course of the series, Jun begins to mature. By the last episode of the OVA Message, he is shown to have grown into an eleven-year-old student. Having been inspired by his time with the warriors, he has channeled his courage into martial arts, becoming a champion in Kendo for Sakura Hill Junior High School. A more recent sequel series depicts him as an adult who has further connections to the legacy of the legendary armors. Through it all, Jun evolves from a lost, vulnerable child into a determined young man whose pure heart and courage remain his defining traits.
