Description
Miku Sakura is a first-year student at Shinju High School and the female protagonist of the story. She has been playing a game known as the love game with her childhood friend Yukiya Asagi since they were in sixth grade. The game involves taking turns saying I love you, with the goal of making the other person blush or become flustered. Four years later, the game continues into high school, and both participants have secretly developed genuine romantic feelings for each other, though they are hesitant to confess out of fear of changing their relationship. Miku is characterized as bright, cheerful, and affectionate, but also stubborn and bashful. She enjoys going to cute places with her friends and posting on a social media platform called Instantgram, yet she also likes staying at home to play video games with Yukiya. Her hobbies include playing a video game called Squidtoon, eating cookies, and researching things she considers cute. She is skilled at cooking her grandmother's recipes and used to practice baton twirling as part of her middle school club. Her favorite foods are ohagi, chocolate, and the tamagoyaki made by Yukiya. Her best subject is Japanese, while math is her weakest. She loves Yukiya because of his sense of justice, his kindness, his humorous arguing, the endearing way he acts when he loses, and the occasional smile he shows. Her motivation for wanting to win the love game is so that Yukiya will accept her as a girl. Over the course of the story, Miku develops emotionally as the boundary between the game and genuine feelings blurs, and she struggles with how to move beyond the playful competition toward a real confession. Her notable abilities include cooking and baton twirling, and she often uses her understanding of Yukiya’s preferences to try to provoke reactions in their ongoing game.
