Ami is introduced as the personal maid of the protagonist, Kanan, having served as her caretaker since childhood in the demon world. Concerned for his daughter's well-being after she moves to the human world, the Great Demon Beelzebub sends Ami to Earth to check on Kanan. Upon her arrival, Kanan immediately views Ami with nervous anxiety, describing her as a real troublemaker.

Ami is a predatory succubus, a species known for having no qualms about affairs, cheating, or stealing another person's partner. Her succubus nature manifests as a casual and enthusiastic approach to sexuality, as she is depicted draining the life force of numerous students of both genders and even attempting to court a female teacher. She is characterized as a lovable sex maniac and a gadfly who craves entertainment, with her favorite pastime being to tease and mess with Kanan, often in lewd ways such as subjecting her to marshmallow hell, or smothering her in her cleavage. Despite this mischievous and predatory nature, Ami remains completely loyal to her mistress and the Zebul family, performing her duties as an excellent maid.

Her primary role in the story is to serve as a disruptive yet supportive catalyst. While she initially causes chaos with her homewrecking tendencies, she ultimately becomes a shipper on deck for Kanan's relationship with the human boy Yoji Kyogi. After witnessing how happy Yoji makes her mistress, Ami actively tries to encourage them to grow closer. When she becomes bored, her teasing nature also finds a new target in the young son of the Takakiyos, Shōtarō, where her harassment escalates but never crosses a line that the boy does not come to enjoy. Her notable abilities include the supernatural charm and life-draining powers common to succubi, as well as her dedicated skills as a personal maid.
