Description
Luc is a young mage who serves as the apprentice of Leknaat, the keeper of the Gate Rune. He originates from the Holy Kingdom of Harmonia, having been created as a clone of the nation’s leader, Hikusaak, for the purpose of bearing the True Wind Rune. Because the rune became intertwined with his soul, he was considered a failure and confined to the One Temple until Leknaat rescued him when he was five years old and raised him on Magician’s Island. In appearance, Luc has green eyes and shoulder‑length brown hair; during the events of the Dunan Unification War he wears a green tabard over white robes and a small circlet. His personality is marked by a sharp, mocking tongue and a prideful, bitter attitude, though he remains unfalteringly polite toward his mentor. Despite his abrasive exterior, he does possess a capacity for compassion and an underlying sense of duty. At first, Luc participates in the Gate Rune War and the Dunan Unification War reluctantly, following Leknaat’s orders, but he gradually becomes troubled by the nature of his destiny and the will of the True Wind Rune. His growing despair over what he sees as a predetermined, lifeless future fuels a deeper motivation to challenge the balance between order and chaos, ultimately seeking to destroy his own True Rune. In the story of the Dunan Unification War, Luc acts as an ally to the protagonist’s army, lending his formidable magical abilities to their cause. He assists in battles by using his mastery of summoning and teleportation, powered by the True Wind Rune. He is able to conjure clay dolls and later numerous monsters, and can instantly transport himself to another location. His ring, the Guardian’s Eye, serves as a focus for his magic. Luc shares a key relationship with Leknaat, his mentor and surrogate mother, and also with Sasarai, a Harmonian high priest who is his physical double and fellow clone, toward whom he feels a personal and intense rivalry. Over the course of the war, Luc’s hope for a better future begins to erode, foreshadowing a more antagonistic path, but in this period he remains a powerful, if acerbic, ally who carries the weight of his unnatural creation and the heavy knowledge granted by his True Rune.
