Description
Ichiyo Shimamura is a thirty-two-year-old man and the older brother of Mitsuba Shimamura and Futaba Shimamura. He is driven by a singular, unwavering conviction that he is the living embodiment of Kamen Rider V3, a hero he believes to be the strongest of all Riders. This belief defines his entire identity and purpose. His path was forged by tragedy; his grandparents were killed by a monster associated with the secret evil organization Shocker. Swearing vengeance, Ichiyo states that he cast aside his humanity to take upon himself the noble soul of V3. Along with his younger brother, he repeatedly warned others about Shocker's existence, but they were dismissed as eccentrics and ridiculed, a reaction that did not deter him. Instead, he remained composed and intensified his private training.
Ichiyo's personality is marked by an intense, passionate, and persistent nature. He is a man of absolute determination, immune to the judgment of others and deeply rooted in his heroic ideal. He does not simply imitate Kamen Rider V3; he believes his soul has become V3. This core philosophy extends to his unique method of "transformation." He requires no belt, device, mask, or special costume to become the Rider, asserting that such tools are unnecessary because his soul is already V3. Through ritualized movements and a precise sequence of poses, he embodies the hero. However, a specific condition governs his power: he cannot unleash his true strength unless he performs the classic Kamen Rider V3 transformation pose.
His role in the story is that of a dedicated warrior against Shocker. In his crusade, he is known for confronting evil using only his own body. To live up to the name of V3, who in the original series was granted the combined powers of Kamen Riders 1 and 2, Ichiyo mastered numerous types of martial arts. His physical condition is at its peak, allowing him to perform advanced Rider maneuvers such as the V3 Tailspin Kick without any special effects. His signature technique is the V3 Electric Heat Chop, a hand strike that has, through his rigorous training, reached the level of a focused, explosive release of internal power known as fajin, though he is unaware of the true nature of his own ability.
In terms of key relationships, his most significant bond is with his younger brother, Mitsuba Shimamura, with whom he shares the burden of their grandparents' murder and the fight against Shocker. He also has another younger sister, Futaba. His personal life extends beyond his family and his mission. After witnessing the fighting spirit of a woman named Yuriko Okada, he fell in love with her and confessed his feelings. Although she declined his proposal, he made a follow-up confession, asking for permission to continue loving her even if his love was unrequited, and this request was accepted.
Regarding his development, Ichiyo is portrayed as a character who has already undergone his crucial transformation before the story begins. The death of his grandparents was the catalyst that hardened his resolve and led him to sacrifice the man he was to become the soul of V3. His personal journey, therefore, focuses less on change and more on the steadfast execution of his chosen path, testing his convictions against other characters who share his world. His notable abilities are rooted not in science fiction or magic, but in a near-superhuman level of martial arts mastery and an unshakable will that allows him to manifest the powers of a Rider through sheer spiritual and physical discipline.
