Description
Kōyō Kotesashi is the protagonist of the story, a first-year high school student at Seiwa University High School, a prestigious institution known for its strong athletic programs. He comes from a financially modest family, which has instilled in him a strong sense of responsibility and determination from a young age. His most defining characteristic is his exceptional skill in massage therapy, a talent he developed through training received from his parents. Kōyō is deeply motivated by his dream of becoming a sports doctor, and he enrolls at Seiwa with the goal of earning a scholarship to its medical program. To cover his school expenses and living costs, he accepts a position as the live-in caretaker of a female dormitory known as Maple Lies. His role quickly expands beyond basic maintenance when the school chairman, a friend of his father, tasks him with using his massage skills to manage the physical and mental well-being of the five elite female athletes living there, in exchange for the scholarship he seeks. Kōyō is characterized by his persistence, resilience, and a calm, focused demeanor. He approaches his work with a professional and ethical mindset, carefully respecting the boundaries of the athletes under his charge, even as his unique touch leads to frequent and intense pleasurable reactions from them. His ability to read the body and alleviate specific physical problems, such as misaligned hips or muscular imbalances, makes him an invaluable asset to the athletes. Throughout the story, he builds distinct relationships with each resident: the proud but struggling basketball player Aroma Kusunoki, the playful soccer star Aoba Kitahara, the anxious swimmer Izumi Sumiyoshi, the laid-back table tennis player Chiyo Sayamagaoka, and the strong yet responsible volleyball captain Miyuki Hongō. His interactions with each girl are shaped by their personalities and their unique athletic challenges. Over time, Kōyō develops from a student simply working to make ends meet into a trusted figure whose care directly influences the performance and personal growth of the athletes, gradually earning their respect and reliance.
