TV-Series
Description
Funbeemon is the Partner Digimon of Minezaki Mitsuo, a minor antagonist encountered early in Digimon Beatbreak. As a pair, Funbeemon and its human partner work together as watch thieves, having committed several crimes before their confrontation with the organization known as Glowing Dawn.
In terms of personality, Funbeemon is depicted as a loyal partner who follows the commands of Minezaki, a man who is highly proud of himself and considers his criminal work professional. Minezaki shows a willingness to use tools like smoke bombs and does not hesitate to harm children to protect himself, a trait that reflects on the nature of their partnership. Funbeemon itself appears to be a capable combatant, following its partner's orders in battle without hesitation.
Within the story, Funbeemon and Minezaki are tracked down by members of Glowing Dawn, specifically Sakuya Reina and her partner Wolvermon, alongside Kuonji Makoto and Chiropmon. During the ensuing fight, Funbeemon demonstrates a degree of agility and tactical sense, using a dust cloud created by Wolvermon’s own attack to reposition and strike from above with its Gear Stinger technique. This attack is powered up by Minezaki’s e-Pulse, making it strong enough to send Wolvermon crashing to the ground.
The course of the battle shifts when Minezaki orders Funbeemon to defeat Wolvermon. As Makoto has Chiropmon attack Minezaki from behind, the distraction allows Wolvermon to land a powerful blow on Funbeemon. While seemingly cornered, Minezaki uses a smoke bomb to create an opening, and Funbeemon kicks Wolvermon back before spitting out its partner’s Sapotama device. Minezaki catches it and charges it with his e-Pulse, throwing it into the air for Funbeemon to eat, triggering its evolution into the Adult-level, high-mobility Digimon known as Waspmon.
In its evolved form as Waspmon, the Digimon becomes a much more formidable threat, firing several Turbo Stinger attacks at the human members of Glowing Dawn. One of these attacks would have struck Reina had Wolvermon not pushed her out of the way and taken the hit instead. However, before Waspmon can deliver a final strike, a new combatant, Murasamemon, enters the battlefield. The powerful Digimon bisects Waspmon in a single cut, forcing Funbeemon to revert to its Baby I form, Pupumon, and become separated from Minezaki’s Sapotama.
This defeat leads to a significant shift in the dynamic. Upon being captured, Minezaki immediately tries to blame his own crimes on Funbeemon, a panicked act that shows very little loyalty to his partner. There is no suggestion of a deep bond between them, and Minezaki abandons Funbeemon to save himself when facing the consequences of his actions. The Digimon is picked up by Sawashiro Kyo, the leader of Glowing Dawn, after its defeat.
Notable abilities demonstrated by Funbeemon include its primary attack, Gear Stinger, which fires rapid shots at an opponent. It also has the ability to consume a charged Sapotama from its human partner to evolve into Waspmon, a form with significantly higher mobility and the powerful Turbo Stinger attack. Like many Digimon of its species, Funbeemon is an Insect-type Digimon and, in the greater Digimon lore, is known for its cheerful but hardworking nature and its association with a mysterious aerial hive called the Royal Base. However, within the context of Digimon Beatbreak, its primary defining trait is its role as the willing tool of a small-time criminal.
