Description
Brody is a significant supporting character introduced in the fourth season of the anime, Dr. Stone: Science Future. He is a middle-aged man with a large build, dark skin, and a bald head, which gives him a physically imposing presence that contrasts sharply with his calm and measured personality. His appearance reflects his background as a former member of the United States military, where he served as a highly knowledgeable technician.

Brody's personality is one of his most defining traits. Unlike many other members of the American Colony, he is a pacifist at heart and strongly dislikes unnecessary conflict or bloodshed. This attitude draws a direct comparison to Ukyo Saionji from the Kingdom of Science, as both characters prioritize the preservation of human life above all else. He has a quiet and reserved nature, but this is paired with a strong sense of altruism and a level-headed pragmatism that makes him a natural leader in crisis situations. He is not easily rattled; for instance, he laughed off suspicions of deception from a captured enemy and immediately prioritized a rescue mission over a retaliatory attack when a tunnel collapsed on friend and foe alike.

Within the narrative, Brody serves as a mechanic and a trusted subordinate to Dr. Xeno, the brilliant but dictatorial scientist leading the American Colony. Brody's expertise lies in mechanics, where he possesses excellent skills in the maintenance and construction of large-scale machinery, including ships and aircraft. His professional relationship with Xeno allowed them to construct advanced technology like a large submarine in the stone world. When the Kingdom of Science captures Dr. Xeno, Brody finds himself in a position of unexpected authority. As Stanley, Xeno's chief enforcer, departs on a rescue mission, Brody is left as the de-facto leader of the colony and its moderate members.

This shift in power defines his role in the story. Instead of seeking revenge or trying to seize absolute power for himself, Brody focuses on the well-being of his people. His primary motivation becomes saving lives and protecting the colony in Xeno's absence. This goal aligns him with the Kingdom of Science. When Senku Ishigami contacts him with a truce offer, Brody is initially uninterested, but his perspective changes completely when Senku reveals the formula for the revival fluid and the ambitious plan to depetrify and house a million people. The offer gives Brody the means to fulfill his duty to the country and people he swore to protect.

His key relationships further drive his actions and development. He is loyal to Dr. Xeno, but not blindly fanatical like Stanley. However, he is also acutely aware that when Xeno and the vengeful Stanley return, any power he holds will be relinquished. This realistic understanding of his temporary position shapes his decisions. His most crucial alliance forms with representatives of the Kingdom of Science, particularly Nikki Hanada. During negotiations, Brody initially tries to assert dominance on behalf of the American Colony, but Nikki's fierce and direct demeanor successfully intimidates him into backing down. Amused and impressed by her strength, he abandons his demand for a hierarchy and agrees to an equal partnership, a truce that leads to the joint establishment of Corn City.

In terms of abilities, Brody is more than just a mechanic. He possesses remarkable mental resilience, a quality that allowed him to maintain his consciousness for thousands of years while petrified and be successfully revived. As a soldier, he is capable of command, but his approach is rational and life-affirming rather than aggressive. When part of a tunnel collapses with people trapped on both sides, he stops his soldiers from pursuing the enemy and instead insists that saving lives is the priority, declaring that no one deserves to die. His greatest impact in the story comes not from combat prowess but from his willingness to cooperate, his technical skills, and his strong moral compass, which steers the American Colony away from a path of dictatorship and toward one of mutual survival and reconstruction.
