TV-Series
Description
Homura Momiji is a character from the Dr. Stone series who initially serves as a secondary antagonist. Before the mass petrification event that froze humanity for millennia, she was a professional gymnast, a background that heavily influences her physical capabilities in the stone world. She is a young woman, first appearing at the age of eighteen, with distinctive long pink hair and notably full lips.
Her personality is defined most strongly by her deep and unwavering loyalty to Hyoga, whom she serves as the absolute right hand. This loyalty borders on devotion, and she executes his orders without question or hesitation. She is a woman of very few words, typically speaking in short, quiet sentences, which contributes to her composed and mysterious demeanor. Despite her calm exterior, she can be merciless and cold-blooded when a situation demands it, as seen when she sets an entire village ablaze without a second thought. While formidable and observant, she has a notable weakness for sweets, such as cotton candy and ice cream, a trait that contrasts with her otherwise stern personality. Her loyalty is directed at Hyoga personally rather than the ideals of the Tsukasa Empire, meaning her motivations are almost entirely derived from his will.
Within the story, Homura's primary function is as an elite operative specializing in infiltration, sabotage, and surveillance. During the conflict between the Tsukasa Empire and the Kingdom of Science, she is instrumental in a major attack on Ishigami Village. While Hyoga and his forces engage the villagers directly at the front gate, Homura secretly swims around to the rear of the village and sets it on fire, creating chaos and forcing a full evacuation. Following this assault, she remains behind to keep a constant watch on the village from the surrounding forest, enduring harsh conditions for months. During this time, she memorizes the names, faces, and routines of all the villagers, making her an exceptionally effective spy. Her role evolves from a dedicated saboteur to a prisoner and eventually to a conditional ally. She is eventually captured by the Kingdom of Science but later freed briefly to carry out a critical act of sabotage, destroying the Cave of Miracles, which held the key to producing the revival fluid. After being recaptured and later petrified again, she is revived as part of a deal to secure Hyoga's cooperation, after which she functionally joins the Kingdom of Science while maintaining her primary allegiance to him.
Her key relationships are centered on a few key figures. Her bond with Hyoga is the single most important aspect of her character; she is fanatically devoted to him, she trusts him absolutely, and it is implied she may have deeper romantic feelings for him. In contrast, her relationship with the empire's leader, Tsukasa, is functional rather than loyal; she follows his orders only as long as they align with Hyoga's agenda. Her dynamic with the Kingdom of Science, particularly Senku Ishigami, is one of cat-and-mouse. He uses tactics like leaving out cotton candy to distract her and employs scientific methods such as tracer powder to track her movements, which she often manages to detect and counteract, demonstrating her own cleverness.
Throughout the series, Homura shows subtle development. She begins as a pure antagonist but gradually transitions into a member of the expanded team. While her steadfast loyalty to Hyoga never wavers, she begins to cooperate with the Kingdom of Science, contributing her unique skills to their collective efforts, such as acting as a lookout on the high seas during their voyage to the New World and fighting alongside former enemies against common threats.
Homura's abilities are almost entirely derived from her pre-petrification career as a gymnast. She possesses extraordinary speed and agility, which allows her to move through trees and across terrain with acrobatic grace. Her speed is said to rival that of Kohaku, one of the strongest fighters in the Kingdom of Science. She is a master of stealth, capable of remaining hidden for extended periods while observing her targets. She is also highly intelligent and observant, able to quickly deduce enemy plans and notice subtle details like scientific tracking methods. Her endurance is notable, allowing her to survive outdoor surveillance through winter with minimal supplies and to free-dive for long durations without equipment. Her fighting style relies on evasion and quick, precise movements rather than raw strength, making her incredibly difficult to capture or pin down.
