Description
Charlotte is a former member of an elite United States military special forces unit, having served as a soldier under the command of Captain Stanley Snyder prior to the worldwide petrification event in 2019. Her background in the military honed her into a disciplined and highly capable operative, with her most exceptional skill being her prowess as a pilot. She possesses a level of flying ability that is considered nearly comparable to her captain's, a talent that makes her a formidable asset in aerial combat situations even with the limited technological resources available in the stone world.
In terms of personality, Charlotte is defined by an intense and unwavering loyalty, with her entire worldview seemingly orbiting around her admiration for Stanley. She idolizes him as a perfect and godlike figure, going so far as to meticulously imitate his speech patterns, mannerisms, and overall demeanor. This devotion makes her appear serious and rule-bound, as she diligently follows orders and maintains a soldier's composure. However, she is not without a hint of competitive spirit and confidence, as shown when she engages in dogfights and taunts her opponents, fully confident in her own considerable abilities, only to show frustration when bested. Despite her fierce and dedicated exterior, Charlotte is not completely devoid of compassion. A significant turning point for her character occurs when an enemy, Suika, chooses to save her life after she is bitten by a venomous spider, administering an emergency antidote. This act of mercy causes Charlotte to hesitate when later ordered to kill on sight, revealing a capacity for empathy that transcends the simple lines of ally and enemy.
Her primary motivation for much of the story is to serve and be acknowledged by Stanley, whose command she follows without question. This initially places her as an antagonist to the Kingdom of Science, using her flying skills to support the American colony's goals. During the aerial battle against Senku Ishigami and Ryusui Nanami, she acts as a decoy, drawing their fire to allow Stanley to execute a covert submarine attack on their ship, the Perseus. After Stanley's forces suffer defeat and both she and her captain are temporarily rendered inactive, Charlotte's role shifts. Following a second global石化 (petrification) and subsequent revival, she becomes an ally. Her exceptional flying ability then directly contributes to the global coalition's ambitious plan to reach the moon, as she pilots aircraft on missions to search for mineral deposits. Her character development is marked by the softening of her rigid soldier mentality after being shown kindness by her former enemies. Ultimately, her relationship with Stanley remains central, but she forges new key relationships as well, most notably with Ryusui, who is so impressed by her flying skills that he eventually hires her to serve as his personal pilot after the world's reconstruction.
