Description
Hitomi Takamine is the head coach of the Lux Higashiyama Figure Skating Club, a role she stepped into following her retirement from competitive ice dancing. Born on February 6th in Yokohama, she stands 163 centimeters tall. Her career as an ice dancer was marked by exceptional skill, though this very talent made it difficult to find a male partner who could match her level, leading to several partnerships forming and dissolving. The final and most significant partner of her career was Tsukasa Akeuraji, a skater who started ice dancing at the late age of twenty. Initially skeptical of the pairing due to their difference in experience, she grew to respect his dedication and ability as he rapidly closed the gap between them, and the pair eventually competed together at the All-Japan Championships. Her experience with Tsukasa left her with immense trust in his abilities and character.

As a coach, Hitomi is characterized by her warm and kind demeanor, which has made her popular with both her young students and their parents. She makes a conscious effort to treat every student equally and avoid any appearance of favoritism. The club she runs is known for its friendly, family-like atmosphere, a direct reflection of her personality. While she is caring and approachable, she also acts as the voice of reason, often having to manage or provide deadpan commentary on the more eccentric and intense personalities around her, particularly that of her former partner and current colleague, Tsukasa. Her coaching philosophy places a strong emphasis on fundamental skating skills and proper technique, which she believes are more important than flashy jumps. She is also deeply attentive to the emotional well-being of her students; for instance, during a training camp, she comforted the young skater Inori Yuitsuka when she felt anxious and insecure, allowing her to stay in her room and offering reassurance. She is responsible for choreographing many of Inori's competitive programs.

Her key relationships shape much of her role in the story. Her partnership with Tsukasa Akeuraji evolved from one of wary distance to deep mutual trust and friendship. When she needed more help at her growing club, she personally recruited him as a coach, and she continues to rely on him while also being frequently exasperated by his overenthusiastic nature. She maintains a close but complex relationship with her father, Shou Takamine, a former Olympic ice dancer who was her first coach. He is famously overprotective of her, to the point of trying to chase away any potential suitors or friends, a behavior she firmly put a stop to during middle school. Despite his overbearing tendencies, she has learned to manage him affectionately. Hitomi married in her early twenties, a fact signified by the wedding ring she always wears, though her husband is a largely unseen presence in the story. Her marital status firmly establishes her relationship with Tsukasa as purely a partnership of former competitors and trusted colleagues, with no romantic subtext.

Throughout the narrative, Hitomi provides stability and professional leadership, serving as the core around which the Lux Higashiyama club operates. While she was a highly accomplished ice dancer in her own right, her role as a mentor is where she truly shines. She is responsible for not just the technical growth of skaters like Inori but also their psychological resilience, demonstrating a consistent ability to teach, guide, and nurture the next generation of figure skaters. Her own history of overcoming the challenge of finding a suitable partner informs her patient and encouraging coaching style.
