Description
Hone-chan, also known as Hone-kun, is a male middle school student and a close friend of the main protagonist, Kotaro Kawaii. He is a prominent member of the supporting cast, best known for his unabashed and enthusiastic nature as an otaku, with a deep passion for idols and anime culture.

Hone-chan has a straightforward and energetic personality, never hiding his true feelings or impulses. He brims with curiosity and confidence, often taking bold action in situations where his friends might hesitate. This is a key point of contrast with his more reserved friend, Kotaro. A defining and often-quoted principle of Hone-chan's is his belief that cuteness transcends all boundaries: he firmly thinks that if something is cute, it counts as a girl, regardless of whether it is a machine or a boy. This philosophy fuels his affection for collecting figures and even talking to them as if they were cherished friends.

Hone-chan's primary motivation centers on pursuing his otaku interests with unrestrained zeal. He is driven by a desire to see cute things, especially girls, which leads him to devise elaborate and often comedic schemes. A notable example is when he organized a beach outing with the secret goal of seeing his female classmates in swimsuits, going so far as to purchase women's swimwear himself. When the girls declined to participate, his plan backfired hilariously when he instead convinced the boys of the class to wear the suits. This incident perfectly illustrates his impulsive, innovative, and unashamed approach to life.

Within the story's dynamic, Hone-chan serves as a primary source of comedic relief and chaotic energy. His antics are vital to the group's humor, frequently pushing situations toward the absurd. He is integral to the friend group, which also includes the more level-headed Gou-yan, who often acts as the straight man to Hone-chan's wild ideas. Ironically, despite Hone-chan's schemes, it is often Gou-yan who ends up in the most embarrassing or revealing situations. Hone-chan shares a strong bond with Kotaro, united by their shared status as self-described introverts and their common otaku hobbies, and he often expresses a mix of admiration and humorous jealousy towards the playful, manzai-style dynamic he perceives between Kotaro and the slime girl, Puniru, whom he mistakenly believes to be Kotaro's girlfriend.

In terms of development, Hone-chan remains a consistently portrayed character whose primary role is to deliver much of the series' otaku-themed humor and to instigate memorable, chaotic events. He does not possess any supernatural or special abilities, as his strengths lie entirely in his bold personality, his creativity for outlandish schemes, and his complete lack of social inhibition. Despite his eccentricities, his actions are never malicious, and his genuine, if unconventional, friendship with Kotaro and the others makes him an endearing and dependable part of the group.
