TV-Series
Description
Darkiine is the primary antagonist of the anime You and Idol Precure♪, serving as the mysterious and formidable leader of the Chokkiri Gang. She is a being born from the darkness within human hearts, hailing from KurakuLand, a realm that exists in direct opposition to the fairy kingdom of KirakiLand. Before the events of the series, she was responsible for plunging KirakiLand into shadow, sealing most of its fairy inhabitants, including the fairy Pikarine, within dark crystals.

In terms of appearance, Darkiine is a tall, pale woman with long, flowing dark red hair and piercing golden eyes. She wears a long, sleeveless black dress and a distinctive black hat or hairpiece adorned with two prong-like horns shaped like scissors. A notable accessory is a golden pendant around her neck, which also resembles a pair of scissors. For much of the series, she is depicted only as a sinister silhouette with glowing red eyes, her full appearance being revealed only in the final arc.

Her personality is marked by cruelty, impatience, and an absolute intolerance for failure or any form of light or shine, which she refers to as "Kirakira". She is highly astute and manipulative, but also ruthless, showing no loyalty to her subordinates. When members of her own team, such as the fairy Cutty, begin to develop positive feelings or a connection to the Pretty Cure, Darkiine does not hesitate to forcibly transform them into enhanced monsters as punishment.

Darkiine's primary motivation is to shroud the world in complete, absolute darkness. This goal stems from her very nature as a being born from humanity's fears, anxieties, and negative emotions. The darkness she spreads is not just an external force but a source of power for her, growing stronger as the anxiety of people increases. She believes that human pursuits of dreams, hope, and love are the root cause of all suffering and seeks to freeze the world in its darkest moment to eliminate all pain. Early in the series, she is the unseen force directing the Chokkiri Gang's operations, amplifying their power to create monsters called Makkuranda and later Kurayaminda to steal the shine from the human world.

Her key relationships are primarily with her subordinates, whom she views as disposable tools. She recruited Cutty and Zakkuri by amplifying the darkness in their hearts and later corrupted the human Jogi (formerly Kazuma Tōya) after a personal failure. She also created the executive Chokkirine as a direct agent to manage the organization. While her subordinates, particularly Chokkirine, act out of fear of her displeasure, Darkiine remains largely detached, operating from the shadows and only intervening directly when her plans are severely threatened.

Throughout the story, Darkiine evolves from a distant, shadowy mastermind into an active, desperate threat. Initially content to let her underlings handle the collection of darkness, she becomes increasingly involved as the Pretty Cure continuously thwart her plans. She personally corrupts the Heart Tree of Hanamichi Town, covers the city in black petals, and finally appears in person to engage the Cures directly. In the climax, she demonstrates her overwhelming power by easily defeating Cure Idol and sealing the other Pretty Cure and all the townspeople in crystals. Her ultimate defeat does not come through destruction but through understanding. After a final performance by the Idol Pretty Cure, who express their desire for coexistence rather than eradication, Darkiine is purified. She reverts to her original fairy form, named "Yami" (darkness), and accepts her role as the necessary counterpart to light, agreeing to coexist peacefully with KirakiLand.

Darkiine possesses several fearsome abilities. She can create and enhance the dark crystals used to summon monsters like Makkuranda and Kurayaminda. Unlike her subordinates, she can summon these monsters directly without a crystal, creating ones powerful enough to resist initial purification attempts. Her most terrifying power is the ability to transform any being, including her own followers and innocent civilians, into monsters by directly corrupting the darkness in their hearts with a touch. She can also trap individuals in dark, unbreakable crystals, a fate she ultimately inflicts on nearly the entire cast before her final defeat.
