Description
Meroron is a fairy from the magical land of KirakiLand who later takes on the human identity of Meron Tanaka, a third-year transfer student at Hanamichi Middle School. In her fairy form, she has light pinkish-lavender fur, a rounded body, and large expressive eyes, and she speaks with the characteristic verbal tic of ending her sentences with "mero." Her personality is precocious, strong-willed, and somewhat proud, but she also possesses a deep well of knowledge, often reading books and occasionally speaking in ways that resemble poetry. When she transforms, she becomes Cure Kiss, a fashionable and elegant warrior whose signature fan service is blowing kisses. Her transformation catchphrase is "Heart o mero tto hitorijime! Kimi to kuchizuke, Cure Kiss!" meaning "Heart-stealingly yours! A kiss with you, Cure Kiss!"

Meroron's primary motivation is her intense affection for Purirun, another fairy from KirakiLand whom she calls "neetama" (big sister). Although they are not actually sisters, Meroron idolizes Purirun and wishes to protect her and help her achieve her goals. This devotion drives her to join Purirun in using the Heart Kirari Lock, a powerful artifact that can grant any wish but requires sealing away one's most precious memory. Purirun seals her memories of Uta Sakura (Cure Idol) to gain the power to protect her, and Meroron makes a similar sacrifice to ensure Purirun's wish comes true. This act transforms them both into Precure, with Meroron becoming Cure Kiss.

In the story, Meroron initially appears as a foil to the human protagonists, keeping her distance and focusing solely on Purirun. Her role becomes more central after she and Purirun become full-fledged Cures, joining the team as the fourth and fifth members. She brings a mysteriously cool and mature demeanor to the group, though she often melts into a lovestruck state around Purirun. Over the course of the series, Meroron undergoes significant development: she starts off possessive and solitary, but gradually opens up to Uta, Nana, and Kokoro, learning to trust them as friends and teammates. Her relationships deepen especially with Purirun, whose obliviousness to her romantic feelings creates both comedic and touching moments, and with Tanaka, the fairy-turned-manager who often has to mediate her antics.

As Cure Kiss, Meroron is a capable combatant who favors physical attacks and support abilities. She can create a spatial technique called Heart Garden, which traps or hinders opponents. Alongside Cure Zukyoon (Purirun's Precure form), she executes a combined attack named Precure Zukyoon Kiss Destiny, which purifies enemies through song. Her fighting style emphasizes elegance and precision, reflecting her composed personality. Meroron also retains her fairy knowledge, using it to provide strategic insight during battles.

Overall, Meroron is a layered character whose journey from a fiercely loyal but isolated fairy to a trusting and cooperative partner is central to the latter half of the series. Her black-themed Cure design is notable as the first since the original Cure Black, and her emotional arc balances her cool exterior with a deeply caring heart.
