Description
Mr. Elegance is the main antagonist of the Virgin Punk film series and the owner of the bounty hunter group Archimedeath. His background is largely unknown, with no confirmed information about his origins, though he is described as having risen through a life of crime to become a powerful crime lord operating in a world where Somadea-enhanced body augmentations are common. He presents himself with a refined and flamboyant demeanor, but beneath this polished exterior lies a calculating and opportunistic personality. He is driven entirely by profit, having founded Archimedeath solely for the purpose of acquiring massive bounties, and he shows no concern for social justice or the well-being of others. A defining and disturbing trait is his strong lolita complex, which shapes his fixation on the protagonist, Ubu Kamigori.
His role in the story is that of the primary antagonist and the orchestrator of Ubu's transformation. He first appears when he and another bounty hunter, Maggie, storm the orphanage where a fourteen-year-old Ubu lives, killing the director who was a Somadea criminal. Upon seeing Ubu, he takes a predatory interest in her and offers to adopt her, an offer she flatly refuses. Ten years later, after Ubu has become a bounty hunter, he ambushes her at her home and shoots her without warning. A year after that, he reveals that he had her brain transferred into a Somadea cybernetic body that resembles her fourteen-year-old self, and that he retains a kill switch that can shut her down remotely. Unable to defy him, Ubu is forced to become his ward and work for him as a bounty hunter under his control.
The key relationship in the story is his complex and abusive dynamic with Ubu. He functions as a manipulative handler and a figure of absolute control, viewing her as a tool to be used for his profit. While there are hints of a protective or possessive nature, the relationship is fundamentally built on a severe power imbalance: he murdered her original body, enslaved her in a new one, and holds the power to end her existence at any time. This creates a central tension in the narrative, with Ubu secretly vowing to get her revenge on him. His relationships with other bounty hunters, such as Maggie and Lewis Gaudi, appear to be purely transactional, with him viewing them as disposable assets in his hunt for bounties.
Throughout the first part of the series, his development is minimal, as he remains a static force of control and manipulation. He celebrates his successful enslavement of Ubu and her effectiveness as a bounty hunter, showing no remorse or change in his objectives. His notable abilities stem from his use of Somadea enhancements, which provide him with physical augmentations common in this cyberpunk setting. More significantly, his power lies in his strategic mind, his ability to control the bounty hunting network through Archimedeath, and most critically, his remote kill switch that gives him absolute authority over Ubu's actions and very existence.
