Fubuki is a young man with a complicated past who joins the main group of retainers serving the protagonist. He is distinguished by his long hair that often covers one eye and his practice of carrying two swords, a reflection of his dual-wielding fighting style. His background is rooted in the Ashikaga clan, where he was educated at the Ashikaga Academy in both strategy and martial arts. This period of his life was not a happy one; his father, obsessed with the family's advancement, subjected him to harsh and torturous training. Unable to endure this treatment any longer, Fubuki ultimately killed his father and fled the academy, becoming a wanderer with no family or patron to support him.

As a result of this traumatic upbringing, Fubuki's personality is layered. On the surface, he presents himself as serious and composed, rarely letting a situation overcome him. This calm demeanor makes him a reliable presence in the heat of battle, where he concentrates fully on his opponents and does not hesitate when lethal force is required. Despite this capacity for coldness in combat, he is also described as being kind to those around him and is known to be an excellent teacher, willingly lending his skills to others. A notable, almost comical, flaw in his otherwise stern character is his reaction to hunger; when he has not eaten, he becomes whiny and annoying, losing his ability to fight effectively.

Fubuki's role in the story is initially that of a wandering warrior searching for a lord worthy of his talents. He arrives at the Suwa Shrine, where he is fed by a girl named Shizuku, and later finds a village under attack by bandits. Taking the lead, he organizes the village's orphaned children, teaching them to defend themselves and successfully repelling multiple attacks. It is here that he crosses paths with the elusive warriors. After a brief misunderstanding that leads to a fight, Fubuki observes the abilities of the young lord Tokiyuki. Impressed by what he sees, he decides to pledge his services, officially joining the group as one of its key strategists. His presence adds a mature and highly capable combatant to the group, as well as a strategic mind that complements their leader's more evasion-based talents.

His key relationships are primarily with the other young retainers. He becomes a mentor figure to Tokiyuki, specifically training him in swordsmanship and helping him adapt his natural ability to flee into an effective combat technique. He also works closely with the group's clairvoyant leader, Yorishige, often being consulted for his tactical insights. While generally kind, his bond with his comrades is most notably tested by his immense appetite, which can make him difficult to be around when rations run low.

In terms of abilities, Fubuki is a master swordsman, most notably skilled in wielding two blades simultaneously in combat. Beyond his physical prowess, his true value lies in his strategic mind. He is considered one of the most important planners within the group, capable of calmly visualizing and executing complex tactics against enemies. Furthermore, he possesses a rare talent for recognizing potential in others and teaching them, a skill he demonstrated with the village children and continues to use while training his new lord.
