Kikunosuke Toya

Description
Kikunosuke Toya is a Japanese voice actor born on November 30, 1998, affiliated with the agency Sony Music Artists. Raised in Tokyo and Kanagawa Prefecture, he spent part of his childhood in Thailand due to his parents' work. His early interests were rooted in performance and music; he began playing piano at age three and later learned trombone. During high school, he was active in a comedy group, performed in a cover band as a keyboardist, and participated in drama, where he took on roles as a writer, director, and lead actor for school plays.

Initially aspiring to be a comedian, Toya attended various auditions and acting workshops after high school. Inspired by voice actress Inori Minase's success, he entered the 6th Anistoteles audition sponsored by Sony Music Artists in October 2017, where he won the Special Award. This led him to pursue a career in voice acting. In 2019, he became part of the inaugural class of Megumi Ogata's private acting school, Team BareboAt, receiving formal training.

Toya's debut in a leading role came in 2022 when he was cast as Denji, the protagonist of the anime adaptation of Chainsaw Man. This performance garnered critical attention and marked his entry into the industry. That same year, he began voicing Akira Kiyose as part of Sony Music Entertainment Japan's multimedia project UniteUp!, which led to an anime series and Toya performing as a member of the in-project unit Protostar.

Following his debut, Toya has been cast in a variety of prominent anime roles. He voices Minoru Kudō in the third season of The Irregular at Magic High School, Donny in Four Knights of the Apocalypse, Mikoto Yuzuki in The Yuzuki Family's Four Sons, and Fubuki in The Elusive Samurai. His filmography also includes Chōji Tomiyama in Wind Breaker, Hadis Teos Rave in The Do-Over Damsel Conquers the Dragon Emperor, and roles in video games such as Wind Boys! and Shadowverse. He is set to reprise his role as Denji in the upcoming film Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc.

In 2024, Toya received the Best New Actor Award at the 18th Seiyu Awards, recognizing his breakthrough performances. He was also nominated for the Best Voice Artist Performance (Japanese) award at the 8th Crunchyroll Anime Awards for his work as Denji.
