Description
Ein is the protagonist of the story, a young man who was born with the Appraiser class, a low-common job considered the weakest and most underprivileged in his world's rigid social hierarchy. Orphaned at a young age after his parents died in a house fire, he was left with no family trade to inherit, which led him to become an adventurer despite the significant social stigma against his class. As an Appraiser, his primary function was to collect and assess the value of items from defeated monsters, a non-combat role that made him a target for ridicule from his peers, who often called him a rubbish picker.

From a young age, Ein was treated horribly by other adventurers, leading to a deep sense of self-loathing and an inability to like himself. His personality is defined by an inherent kindness and a gentle nature that persists even after he gains immense power. Initially, he is passive and lacks confidence, enduring in silence the physical and verbal abuse from his party members, Zoid and Jolene, who see him only as convenient, disposable help. This kindness is a core trait, as he later chooses to stop a crowd from beating his former tormentor and shows mercy to enemies where others might seek revenge.

Ein's primary motivation at the start of the story is simply survival, but after a profound betrayal, he loses the will to live and attempts suicide. His meeting with the spirit of the World Tree, Yuri, and her guardian Ursula redefines his purpose out of gratitude for being saved, he decides to help Yuri reunite with her sister World Trees. This journey becomes his driving goal, transforming his initial despair into a quest that gives his life new direction. As he grows stronger through training, he gains the courage to face numerous challenges and protect those who have become important to him.

In the story, Ein functions as the central figure who rises from being the lowest rung of society to an individual of extraordinary power. His role evolves from a helpless victim to a powerful hero who travels between dungeons collecting Labyrinth Cores to upgrade his abilities. He becomes the primary guardian for Yuri and later her sisters, a role that grants him a form of immortality and makes him a target for powerful demon forces. Despite his immense strength, Ein often remains humble, feeling overwhelmed in social situations, such as when he is celebrated by a guild master or introduced to royalty.

Ein's key relationships are central to his development. His bond with Yuri, the kind and emotional spirit of the World Tree, is the catalyst for his second chance at life; she insists on saving him and later resides within his prosthetic Spirit Eye. Ursula, Yuri's fierce guardian, becomes his mentor, putting him through brutal Training from Hell that pushes his body and spirit beyond their limits, while also developing a protective, if sometimes exasperated, fondness for him. He forms a strong, friendly alliance with Jasper, a man searching for the World Trees, and inadvertently becomes the hero of Princess Claudia, who becomes infatuated with him. In contrast, his former party members Zoid and Jolene serve as antagonists who represent the cruelty of the world's class system, with Zoid later being corrupted by a rogue spirit to seek revenge against Ein.

Ein undergoes significant character development, transitioning from a self-loathing individual who saw no value in his life to a confident hero driven by a mission of reuniting a family of spirits. The suicide attempt and subsequent rebirth marks the end of his old life. Through his grueling training with Ursula and the gifts from Yuri, he learns that his Appraiser class is not worthless but a foundation for ultimate strength, which helps him overcome the deep insecurities that continued to haunt him in the form of nightmares. Even as he becomes overwhelmingly powerful, he retains his core identity, never turning vindictive or arrogant, and instead uses his strength to protect and help others.

Ein's notable abilities are entirely derived from his Appraiser class, which is transformed by the Spirit Eye (later upgraded to a Divine Spirit Eye) given to him by Yuri. While the standard Appraisal allows him to analyze objects and enemy stats, his enhanced eye grants him several extraordinary powers. He can use Super Appraise, which allows him to read an enemy's attack patterns to such a precise degree that it effectively slows down their movements, enabling him to counterattack with ease. More significantly, he gains the ability to copy the skills and magic of any foe he defeats simply by appraising them, which leads to rapid and immense power creep as he collects a vast arsenal of abilities. Under Ursula's tutelage, he learns to cast spells without incantation and masters powerful magic like the fireball spell, eventually unlocking ultimate spells capable of destroying dungeon bosses and even an ancient dragon from the inside.
