TV-Series
Description
Akira, originally named Akira Yagami in his past life, is the protagonist of the manga series. Before his reincarnation, he was a 29-year-old salaryman working at an IT company, described as an ordinary office worker with an altruistic nature that often led him to draw the short end of the stick. He died after pushing a child out of the path of a truck, an act of selflessness that directly led to his transportation to another world. Upon death, he was reincarnated not as a hero or a noble, but as a goblin, one of the weakest and most short-lived monster races. A notable physical trait he retains from his human life is his pair of glasses, which he continues to wear in his new goblin form.

Personality-wise, Akira is defined by the pragmatic and dependable nature he cultivated as a working adult in Japan. He is calm, analytical, and possesses a strong sense of responsibility, often using his past life's experience and management skills to navigate the dangerous new world. His altruistic tendencies persist, but they are now tempered by the harsh realities of being a monster. He is a natural leader who takes care of those under his protection, though this tendency to help others continues to put him in difficult situations. Unlike the typical short-sighted and feral goblins, Akira thinks strategically, viewing problems through the lens of a former corporate employee who understands politics, negotiation, and long-term planning.

Akira's central motivation shifts from mere survival to the ambitious goal of building a stable and autonomous society for his kind. Initially, he is driven by the desire to defy his species' pathetic seven-day lifespan. However, after securing longevity, his focus expands to securing legal autonomy for his goblin village and fostering peaceful coexistence with humans, though he is constantly forced to defend his community from those who view goblins as expendable pests. He explicitly rejects the path of previous Demon Lords, stating he has no intention of using his power solely for his own benefit or to oppress others, instead wishing to create a different legacy.

In the story, Akira serves as the unconventional leader and figurehead of a rising new power in the world. His role is that of a reformer who challenges the natural order, using his unique longevity and accumulated skills to elevate his entire race from the bottom of the food chain. The narrative follows his attempts to govern his village, negotiate with human authorities like Count Orléans, and protect his people from monster hunters and assassins. His actions force the world to reconsider the role of goblins, turning them from a minor nuisance into a political and military factor that cannot be ignored.

Key relationships include his companions Kuro, a black-haired, dark-skinned girl with a tail, and Karen, a knight and security inspector who initially hunts goblins but later joins Akira's side. Another significant ally is Chloe, a demon girl whose violent introduction leads to her becoming part of the village. His relationship with Count Orléans is a complex political chess match, where the human noble respects Akira as an opponent even as he views the goblin's rise as a fundamental threat to humanity.

Akira undergoes significant development from a confused reincarnated salaryman to a confident sovereign. His journey involves coming to terms with his monstrous body, learning to leverage the strange mechanics of his new world, and maturing from a survivor into a responsible ruler. He learns the weight of leadership, understanding that his decisions affect the lives of all the goblins who live and die in his care, and he inherits skills and responsibilities he never asked for, such as the unique skill of the dying Demon Lord.

Akira's notable abilities are almost entirely tied to a unique system of skills. The foundation of his power is the skill Human 80 Years, granted at reincarnation due to his regrets about dying young, which grants him the lifespan of a human instead of the typical seven days. Goblins in this world have the natural ability to inherit the skills of other goblins when they die. Because Akira lives so much longer than his peers, he passively inherits the skills of countless short-lived goblins who die around him, eventually accumulating hundreds of abilities ranging from healing magic like Heal and Great Heal to offensive magic like Flame Blade and defensive techniques like Iron Body and Counter. His most powerful ability is the unique skill Law of the Jungle, inherited from the dying Demon Lord. This skill makes his authority absolute over any monster he defeats, forcing them into unquestioning, permanent obedience. This effectively allows him to subjugate other monsters and add their strength to his own without fear of betrayal, making him a formidable leader.
