Description
Minoru Kudō belongs to the Kudō family, once a Ten Master Clan of Japan and now an Assistant House. He is a second-year student at Second High School and holds the position of student council vice president. His ethereal, delicate features, pale skin, and strikingly beautiful, otherworldly appearance, often compared to Miyuki Shiba, draw considerable attention, sometimes provoking inappropriate reactions. A high-pitched voice complements his boyish looks.

Genetically engineered as an augmented magician using material from his father, Kudō Makoto (current clan head), and Makoto's youngest sister (who married into the Fujibayashi family), Minoru is officially presented as Makoto's wife's son. This true parentage makes him Fujibayashi Kyōko's half-brother and half-cousin; among Kudō Retsu's grandchildren, he shares the closest bond with Kyōko. The engineering granted him extraordinary magical power rivaling top magicians like Miyuki, but also caused a severely weak constitution. His body cannot handle his psion activity, resulting in frequent illness; he spends about a quarter of each year bedridden, missing substantial school time and limiting his social interactions and friendships.

Minoru deeply respects his grandfather, Kudō Retsu, and seeks his acknowledgment. Retsu's Parasite Doll experiments were motivated by a desire to extend Minoru's life. Frustration over his physical limitations contrasts with his sharp intellect and strategic mind. He demonstrates kindness towards friends and eagerness to help them, yet unconsciously looks down on his siblings and father for their perceived weaker magical abilities and gentler dispositions.

Magically, Minoru excels in sensory and combat applications. He possesses innate "Elemental Sight," passively detecting powerful magic events from over 400 kilometers away. He mastered all Kudō family magic by age 16, specializing in:
* "Spark": Generating electric discharges scalable from wide-area effects to targeted disruptions like engine explosions.
* "Parade": Sensory-type illusion magic manipulating sensory inputs and information-dimension coordinates to misdirect.
* "Vector Manipulation": Ancient magic altering directional forces to redirect attention or obscure targets.
* "Loyalty Programming": Ancient magic absorbing spiritual entities like Zhou Gongjin's consciousness, retaining their knowledge as a separate "spiritual AI" within his mind. This grants access to Zhou's abilities, including Golden Electron Silkworms and Shadow Beast magic.
* "Jintai Hakka" (Human Ignition): Disabling magical defenses to extract electrons from cellular structures.

His inconsistent health prevents full power utilization in sustained combat. During the Escapes Arc, he absorbed a parasitic entity to cure his constitution and heal Sakurai Minami's damaged Magic Calculation Area, gaining controlled parasitic traits without emotional erosion. His enhanced magical endurance and versatility then allowed him to defeat multiple high-level magicians, including the Saegusa sisters, though he cannot overcome Jūmonji Katsuto's "Iron Wall" defense.

Minoru's development centers on relationships and ideological conflicts. Meeting Minami through Shiba Tatsuya's group, he developed immediate romantic feelings. Witnessing Tatsuya's resolve in Project ESCAPES inspired admiration, but his obsession with curing Minami drove him to become a parasite. He abducted her, arguing parasitic transformation would restore her magic, leading to battles with Tatsuya, Miyuki, and others. When Retsu confronted him to prevent imprisonment as a test subject, Minoru could not retaliate, but the parasite within him caused Retsu's death—a loss that devastated him.

Forced into an alliance with Raymond Clark and Jacob Regulus, Minoru later fought Tatsuya directly. After defeat, he requested death to free Minami, but she chose parasitism. At Miyuki's urging, Tatsuya placed both in permanent suspended animation. Tatsuya subsequently repurposed a New Soviet Union submarine into a spacecraft for their life in space. Despite the Japanese Senate's mandate to expel parasites, Tatsuya enlisted Minoru's expertise to investigate the organization FAIR. Minoru's story concludes with his role as a strategic asset in space, balancing his parasitic nature with retained individuality and loyalty to those he values.
