Description
Kobo is a supporting character in the anime Plus-Sized Elf. She is a crafty and rude kobold who, despite having the appearance of a young girl with blonde hair and yellow eyes, displays the speech and mannerisms of a mature adult. This disparity between her childlike look and her adult behavior is a defining trait. Initially misidentified as a hobbit in her earliest appearance, later material confirms her species as a kobold. Her backstory reveals that she was abandoned by her parents for an unknown reason, forcing her to fend for herself. After crossing into the human world, she established herself in a local playground, which she treats as her territory. There, she extorts candy and junk food from human children in exchange for letting them play. Her love for treasure and all things shiny drives her greedy nature, and her constant overindulgence in the sweets she collects has led to significant weight gain, a common struggle among the fantasy beings in the series. In the story, Kobo acts as one of Tomoatsu Naoe's recurring clients, as he works to help various otherworldly creatures lose weight and return home. Her bratty and manipulative personality makes her a challenging patient, as she is reluctant to give up her favorite foods. Her key relationships involve Naoe, who she often clashes with over her diet, and the other stranded clients such as Erufuda, with whom she sometimes competes for food or conspires in mischief. Although others often treat her like a child because of her size, her cunning nature and adult-level scheming consistently prove otherwise. Her development in the series primarily involves learning to moderate her consumption of sweets and adapting to life in the human world without relying entirely on her deceptive and extortionate tactics. Her notable ability lies in her cleverness and skill at manipulating situations to her advantage, using her innocent-seeming appearance as a tool to get what she wants.
