Description
Kusahanada is a supporting character in the anime Plus-Sized Elf. She is a mandragora, or alraune, a plant being that can assume a human-like form while retaining floral traits. Her most striking feature is the large blossom growing from the top of her head, which is tied directly to her physical condition. She has long green hair, matching green eyes, and pointed ears, and she works as a florist at a shop called Alrau Garden, where she spends her time caring for plants.

Kusahanada has a gentle, mild-mannered personality. Her unusual physiology means that any excess nourishment she absorbs, whether from too much sunlight, water, or food, is funneled directly into the growth of her head flower. When the flower becomes overly large and heavy, it causes her chronic pain in the lower back and legs and makes everyday movement difficult. This discomfort is her primary motivation for seeking help: she hopes to manage her weight and reduce the burden, much like the other otherworldly characters in the story who struggle with modern Earth's calorie-rich lifestyle.

Within the narrative, she is a recurring client of the main character, a massage therapist and diet advisor who works with her to find a sustainable balance for a plant-based body. Her role is not at the centre of the plot, but she contributes to the series' comedic and ecchi moments, particularly through the exaggerated growth of her flower and the mishaps that follow. She shares friendly, at times chaotic, interactions with the other supernatural beings undergoing similar weight-loss journeys, and her presence adds variety to the cast of mythical creatures dealing with earthly temptations.

One of Kusahanada's more notable abilities is the capacity to accidentally transform into a dangerous plant monster, such as a flytrap-like form, when her condition becomes unstable. This transformation is involuntary and typically played for humour, though it underscores how deeply her body reacts to external stimuli. Despite these occasional outbursts, she remains a gentle soul who is genuinely trying to feel better in her own skin and keep her cherished flower from becoming a literal pain. Her character does not undergo dramatic personal change, but her attempts to follow diet and lifestyle adjustments reflect the same determination seen across the series.
