Description
Agares Picero is a first-year student at Babyls Demon School and a member of the Abnormal Class. He is a demon of short stature, standing 140 centimeters tall and weighing an unusually light five kilograms, a trait that is normal for his specific type of demon. His birthday is January 3rd. Agares has orange, curly hair styled like a nightcap, pointed ears, and sharp facial features. He is almost always seen wearing a green sleep mask and often a set of pajamas, giving him a perpetually drowsy appearance. Beneath the mask, however, he is revealed to be an exceptionally beautiful boy with striking features that often surprise others. His constant companion is a sentient, cloud-like creature he calls Shisho or Master, which serves as both his familiar and his mobile bed.
Agares is defined by his extreme laziness and devotion to comfort. His primary motivation is the pursuit of idleness, and he operates on the philosophy of working hard only to make his future rest easier. He dislikes being labeled as someone who relies solely on natural talent, as that dismisses the effort he puts into creating his own ease. Despite his apathetic and blunt demeanor, he possesses a calm and reliable side that emerges during emergencies, allowing him to think clearly and take decisive action to protect others. His most significant relationship is with his classmate Gaap Goemon, who persistently drags him to school and includes him in group activities. Although Agares often expresses annoyance, he becomes fiercely loyal to Gaap, once helping him recover from a failure by scolding him and encouraging him to return to school.
Over the course of the story, Agares transforms from a truant student who barely participates in school life to a dependable member of his class. During the Harvest Festival, his actions earn him the respectful nickname Lord from other students. His primary ability is his inherited family magic, known as My Area or Bed Space, which allows him to freely manipulate anything he perceives as ground. Initially this includes soil and rock, enabling him to sense disturbances, open escape routes, and raise defensive walls. After rigorous training, he learns to expand his perception to treat water and other materials as ground as well, allowing him to instantly construct massive, durable structures like castles or stages. This makes him a formidable defensive asset in any conflict.
