Description
Dennis Young is a foreign-born baseball player who serves as the cleanup hitter and third baseman for the Motorsuns team, wearing jersey number 34. Originally from Chicago, he is a former Major League Baseball player who came to Japan with the intention of making a brief stop before returning to American baseball. However, his plans changed dramatically during a game when he saw Ruriko, a beer vendor, and fell in love with her at first sight, leading him to decide to remain in Japan. His initial adjustment to Japanese baseball is marked by some struggle with the team's attitude and climate, and he tends to brush off advice about valuing team spirit early on.

In terms of personality, Dennis is described as having a passionate and energetic nature, particularly when it comes to romance. This passionate side manifests on the baseball field as well, driving him to perform impressive feats when motivated. One notable example occurs when he witnesses the male lead, Murata, being friendly with Ruriko, causing Dennis to stare daggers at his romantic rival. In a bid to prove his worth and attract Ruriko's attention, he hits a powerful home run, though the ball accidentally strikes Ruriko on the rear, much to the comedic delight of viewers. The incident ultimately provides him with the opportunity to finally meet his baseball goddess, as she gives him a receipt.

Dennis shares a notable relationship with his teammate Bryan, another foreign player on the Motorsuns. In one comedic vignette, Dennis wonders why Bryan receives the team's celebratory pats on the backside, and Bryan hints that the reason is Dennis failing to make proper eye contact with his teammates, suggesting an area where he needs to improve his interpersonal communication. As a former Major Leaguer aiming to impress any scouts who might be watching from the stands, Dennis brings a high level of professional ability to his position, particularly as a cleanup hitter capable of delivering home runs. His journey involves not just his athletic performance but also his social integration into the team and his comedic pursuit of Ruriko's affection.
