Description
Bincam is a character from the animated film Lupin the IIIrd: Fujiko Mine's Lie, serving as the primary antagonist. He is an artificially created assassin, manufactured as a genetically engineered and conditioned human weapon produced from a facility designed for the mass production of killers. His physical design is deliberately unnerving; he possesses unnaturally pale skin, slit pupils, an additional pair of eyelids, and elongated limbs that end in sharpened fingernails which function as natural claws. To further enhance his lethality in close combat, his natural teeth have been replaced with metallic ones. Due to his extreme danger, Bincam is kept confined within a specialized cell, restrained by chains and a mask when not deployed on a mission.
In terms of personality, Bincam initially appears as an apathetic and obedient assassin, a blank slate conditioned to follow orders without question. He is directed by his handler, Carla, who operates under the command of Godfrey Mining, a corporation seeking to recover five hundred million dollars embezzled by an employee named Randy. Bincam's mission is to target Randy, Randy's son Gene, and the master thief Fujiko Mine, who protects Gene as the only person who knows the money's location. However, during his encounters with Fujiko, he develops a consuming and obsessive fixation on her. This obsession ultimately overrides his original programming and conditioning, driving him to kill Carla and pursue Fujiko independently. This descent into volatile emotion stands in stark contrast to his earlier stoicism, transforming him from a tool into a driven, unstable predator.
His role in the story is that of a relentless pursuer, a nearly unstoppable force engineered to retrieve the stolen fortune. His key relationship is initially with Carla, his handler and controller, but this dynamic is shattered by his growing obsession with Fujiko Mine. It is this fixation that ultimately leads to his downfall. Bincam is thematically linked to other assassins within the Lupin the IIIrd film series, such as Yael from Jigen's Gravestone and Hawk from Goemon's Blood Spray, with dialogue and visual cues suggesting a shared origin from a single creator or facility, hinting at a larger conspiracy involving artificially enhanced killers.
Bincam's most notable ability is the emission of a hypnotic curse dust, which is generated from modified sweat glands that produce scopolamine. This dust can create localized storms capable of bending victims' wills, extracting secrets, or compelling obedience. The potency of this dust relies on dry conditions, as moisture or water effectively neutralizes its effects. He also consumes specific nuts regularly from a pouch on his belt, which is believed to fuel his abilities, though the exact connection remains unspecified. His physical enhancements, including his claws and metallic teeth, make him a formidable close-quarters combatant. His development culminates in a final confrontation where Fujiko exploits his distraction, using her sexuality to manipulate him and impale him through the heart with a concealed blade. He remains conscious for a brief moment before succumbing to his wound.
