Description
Muomu is the primary antagonist of Lupin the IIIrd the Movie: The Immortal Bloodline. Originally a dying ape-like creature, Muomu was transformed after absorbing blood from another immortal entity named Mamo. This event triggered an evolution that spanned thousands of years, during which Muomu gradually took on a more humanoid and immense form. In its final state, Muomu became a giant living island, ruling over a secluded domain and manipulating major historical events from behind the scenes for millennia. Muomu's personality is that of a relentless and predatory being. It views anyone who sets foot on its island as prey and demonstrates a cold, commanding presence. It is patient and calculating, having orchestrated the attacks on Lupin and his crew from a distance before revealing itself directly. Its primary motivation appears to be the preservation of its own existence and the maintenance of its control over the island. It harbors no sympathy for outsiders and treats them as obstacles to be eliminated. In the story, Muomu serves as the ultimate physical and supernatural threat that Lupin and his gang must overcome. It is the island's ruler and the source of its dangers, including the toxic fog that slowly kills any outsider who remains. Muomu personally confronts Lupin and his allies, demonstrating its invulnerability by instantly regenerating from a gunshot to the head. It effortlessly kills the returning antagonist Hawk and overpowers Goemon Ishikawa XIII in combat. As the climax unfolds, Muomu attacks the escaping crew's battleship, defeating Jigen, Goemon, and Zenigata in turn. Muomu's key relationships include its connection to Mamo, from whose blood it was created, and its interpreter Salifa, who serves as its voice and intermediary. It also has the ability to resurrect past enemies of Lupin's crew, such as Hawk, to serve its purposes. Muomu shows no loyalty or attachment to these pawns, killing Hawk without hesitation when he is no longer useful. Its primary adversarial relationship is with Lupin III, whom it views as a particularly persistent and intriguing intruder. Muomu does not undergo significant character development over the course of the film. It remains a static, looming force of nature for most of the narrative, representing an obstacle that cannot be defeated through conventional violence. Its only meaningful change occurs when it is finally defeated, as Lupin deduces that Muomu has become one with the island itself, sustained by rivers of blood flowing through its core. By severing this connection, Lupin is able to stop Muomu's rampage. Muomu's notable abilities center on its immortality and regeneration. It can survive any conventional physical attack, including gunfire and explosions, and regenerate from severe injuries almost instantly. Its physical strength and durability are immense, allowing it to overpower skilled fighters like Goemon with ease. It also possesses the ability to cause environmental destruction, such as triggering a volcanic eruption with its screams. Its most remarkable ability is its integration with the island itself, having become the landmass over the course of its evolution, which makes it both a localized antagonist and a geographical threat.
