Description
Gawman Nobile is a veteran mobile suit pilot and member of the anti-Federation group Mafty, using the callsign "Messer 2" in UC 0105. A prominent facial scar marks his extensive battle experience across multiple wars. He serves as a primary pilot under Mafty Navue Erin (Hathaway Noa), operating the Neo Zeon-derived Me02R-F01 Messer Type-F01 mobile suit equipped with vulcan guns, beam sabers, a long beam rifle, and a large shield.

During Mafty's diversionary assault on Davao, Gawman piloted his Messer to target the Regent Hotel, creating chaos to aid Hathaway's escape from the Tasaday Hotel. He acknowledged the civilian cost before firing. His combat skills allowed him to engage multiple Federation Kimberley Unit FD-03-00 Gustav Karl Type-00 mobile suits. However, the RX-104FF Penelope intervened, damaging his beam rifle and disabling his Messer's left thruster, forcing an emergency landing. Surrounded, he was captured by Captain Kenneth Sleg's Circe Unit, representing the first intact capture of both a Mafty pilot and mobile suit.

Under interrogation by Kenneth, Gawman resisted providing intelligence. He sarcastically confirmed Kenneth's suspicion that Hathaway was Mafty Navue Erin, aware the claim would be dismissed without proof. Kenneth, unconvinced, assaulted him. Gawman later awoke restrained in the Penelope's cockpit, where Lieutenant Lane Aim informed him he would be used as a human shield against Mafty. During the ensuing battle between the Penelope and Hathaway's RX-105 Ξ Gundam, Gawman urged Hathaway to destroy the Penelope even at the cost of his own life, prioritizing the mission. Lane, disapproving, ejected him, allowing Hathaway to recover him in the Xi Gundam's cockpit.

Rescued, Gawman returned to Mafty's vessel, the Valiant, to recover. He expressed gratitude to Hathaway for his intervention. His subsequent Mafty activities remain undocumented.

Gawman's personality reflects a hardened yet professional soldier. His condolences before the Davao attack reveal recognition of the ethical compromises in Mafty's operations. His conduct during captivity and as a hostage underscores unwavering commitment to the cause, including a willingness for self-sacrifice. As a pilot, his extensive experience enabled effective combat against numerically superior Federation forces, though he was ultimately outmatched by advanced prototypes like the Penelope.
