Natsumi Nishi is a quiet and reserved student who attends the class next to the main characters Suzuki and Tani. She is extremely shy and often struggles to keep up in conversations, frequently worrying about being a beat behind. Despite her reserved nature, she has a surprising tendency to laugh at nearly everything around her, and her laugh is described as contagious. She serves on the library committee and is a member of the photography club. Nishi finds it difficult to talk to classmates outside of her friend Honda, but she gradually begins to open up over the course of the story. She develops a heartfelt romantic relationship with Kentaro Yamada. Her quiet awkwardness and sensitivity to humor make her a memorable supporting presence.
