Description
Chipie, also known as Chipie or Sippy, is a crew member identified as twenty-five years old and hailing from a planet named Hans. His most defining and unusual characteristic is the black cat that appears to be wrapped around his neck. This is not an accessory or a pet, but the result of extensive body modification surgery. Chipie is in the process of transforming himself into a cat, a procedure known as felinification. The cat fused to his neck is his own body, which he is using to adapt to a future full transformation.

In personality, Chipie is generally calm and good-natured, often approaching situations with a level head. He is balanced and does not enjoy unnecessary confrontation, seldom uttering harsh or commanding words towards others. He possesses a strong sense of intuition and is perceptive, which allows him to detect when others are being dishonest. Complementing this, his charm and stealth are also notably high, enabling him to navigate discussions effectively without drawing excessive hostility toward himself. While his logic and acting skills are not as sharp as his intuition, his defensive capabilities make him a difficult opponent to eliminate. He is a thoughtful person who sometimes takes indirect routes to secure his position, such as strategically undermining relationships before launching an attack when he is playing a hostile role. He has a sympathetic side, even questioning the necessity of eliminating the Gnosia and wondering if they could be reasoned with, a viewpoint that makes others suspect he might sympathize with the enemy.

Within the story, Chipie serves as a steady if unassuming presence among the cast. His primary motivation is his deep-seated desire to become a cat, a dream rooted in his childhood on a planet where the boundary between humans and cats was blurred. Having grown up surrounded by cats, he developed a longing to become one himself and is actively pursuing this goal through surgery. He previously worked as a crew member on a cargo ship, and it was during this time that he encountered Comet, who had stowed away on his vessel. He helped her escape, establishing a significant bond between them as he was one of the few people to show her kindness. They were both caught in the Gnosia incident and ended up on the game's ship together. He maintains a neutral but friendly rapport with most other characters, sharing living quarters in a communal dormitory with Shigemichi and Sha-Ming, which suggests a modest economic status.

Chipie develops primarily through the revelation of his background and singular ambition. His character arc is less about changing as a person and more about revealing the extent of his dedication to becoming a cat. In some loops, his perception of his own humanity blurs; he questions whether he can even call himself human anymore, indicating a significant psychological shift as he progresses toward his goal. His development is explored through interactions with others, such as when Shigemichi and Setsu are present to discuss his cat-filled upbringing.

Notable abilities include his high intuition, which makes him excellent at detecting lies, and his balanced charm and stealth, which allow him to survive many rounds of discussion. He is a reliable ally as either a human or Gnosia, though his tendency to overthink can make his strategies convoluted. When he is Gnosia, he may employ tactics like eliminating trusted individuals to raise his own standing or sabotaging relationships to frame others, making him a cunning opponent. He is often seen exercising in the gym but is never shown bathing, and he may occasionally be found in the infirmary.
