Description
Demon King Orm is a central figure in A Wild Last Boss Appeared!, originally conceived as the ultimate final boss of the game Exgate Online. He is the King of Devils, a being created by the Goddess specifically to control the demonfolk and ensure the continuation of an eternal war against humanity. However, the truth of his existence is far more complex; Orm is not a demon at all. His real identity is the Moon Ouroboros, a divine dragon and one of the Goddess's agents sent to the surface to act as an administrator and warden over the demon race. In appearance, he is tall and muscular, with medium-sized horns, long black hair, and light green eyes. Uniquely, he possesses only four fingers on each hand, and his skin is marked by lines resembling cracks, particularly around his face. He is often seen wearing long robes that cover much of his torso.
While first impressions might paint him as a cruel villain, Orm does not exhibit inherently evil tendencies. His personality is a contradiction, described as kind and stoic, though he is fully willing to do whatever is necessary to achieve his goals. For aeons, he was forced to play a role in the Goddess's "scenario," appearing as the leader of the demons and the final obstacle for heroes. He personally felt the pain and guilt of consistently bringing legendary heroes to their doom, and he suffered upon seeing the suffering of other beings forced into similar roles. This long experience of being a puppet led him to develop a deep resentment toward his fate. He is a being who has lived for tens of millions of years, and knowing the truth about the demonfolk's nature as magical constructs bound to the Goddess's will, he resolved to defy the divine plan.
Orm's primary motivation is to break free from the cycle of violence imposed by the Goddess and to change the future for his people. He refuses to accept the destiny of being a disposable tool, and thus he secretly conspires to overthrow the divine order. In pursuit of this, he forms a clandestine alliance with Dina. Together, they work behind the scenes on a plan to defeat the Goddess and shatter the chains that bind the demons. This makes him a rebellious figure hidden within the ranks of the demon king's authority, acting on his own judgment rather than following the divine script.
In the story, Orm serves as both a direct threat and a crucial ally. After the resurrection of Ruphas Mafahl, the Star That Brings Death, Orm takes immediate interest. He travels to the kingdom of Leavateinn specifically to confront her. This encounter is not simply an act of aggression but a test; he wishes to measure her current strength and determine if she is still a key capable of challenging the Goddess. Their ensuing battle is a clash of titans, fought at speeds and with a power that ordinary beings cannot comprehend, highlighting that Orm is one of the few entities capable of standing on equal footing with Ruphas. Despite his fear of her power, he recognizes that she is the only existence outside of the Goddess's scenario, making her an essential component of his rebellion. His relationship with Ruphas is complex—they are enemies on the surface but share a mutual respect and a common ultimate foe.
Orm undergoes significant development from a static game boss to a dynamic character. He is first described as the highest-level boss who defeated the Seven Heroes, taking parts of their bodies and halving their stats. However, his actions following the revival of Ruphas reveal his deeper nature. He established a sound barrier to speak privately with Dina, confirming his cooperation with her. Ultimately, his goal shifts from simply following the Goddess's orders to actively trying to stop her. He breaks past the level 1000 cap set by the Goddess, transforming into a form with infinite stats and transcending his original limitations.
His notable abilities are immense. As the Moon Ouroboros, his true form is a giant serpent large enough to encircle the entire world of Midgard. He possesses the unique skill Cyclical World, in which he bites his own tail and rotates at super-high speed to trap a target in a time prison. This skill has the highest priority rank and is said to be unnegatable, aging the victim by tens of thousands of years in an instant. He can also use Divine Magic, which repels regular magic, and the Alkaid skill, which breaks the world's system and allows him to display infinite battle power. His power is so great that he can seriously fight the transcendent Ruphas Mafahl, and he is known to have destroyed Mars with his attack potency. By surpassing his limits and activating Alkaid, he effectively becomes a god, capable of rewriting the common sense of the universe and manipulating concepts and reality itself.
