Description
Liè Mó Xián is a supporting character in Thunderbolt Fantasy Sword Seekers 4. He is the humanoid demonic incarnation of Líng Yá, the pipa that belongs to the bard Làng Wū Yáo. His name, which can be translated as Split Demon String, reflects his nature and his connection to musical instruments, as the character for string in his name specifically denotes the kind used in musical instruments or bowstrings. He was originally a sentient pipa that, after being steeped in the demonic energy of the Demon Realm, underwent a complete awakening and transformation into a humanoid form. This transformation occurs during the fourth season while Líng Yá watches over a slumbering Làng Wū Yáo, triggered by an attack from the demonic creatures known as the Hàn Jiǎo.

In terms of appearance, Liè Mó Xián combines visual elements of Làng Wū Yáo with features of his former pipa form. He has bright orange hair cut short except for two longer sections that frame his face and extend down past his waist, matching the shade of Làng Wū Yáo's hair. His eyes are blue, and he has a square jaw with a wide mouth where the lower lip is fuller than the upper. He wears a red mask with gold accents over his right eye that resembles the top right quadrant of the pipa Líng Yá's face, with a hole for him to see through. He also has two short red horns protruding from either side of his forehead, and his ears are pointed.

Liè Mó Xián has a personality marked by sarcasm and a sense of playfulness, whether of a sadistic or lighthearted kind. He is shown to be ruthless toward his enemies, such as the Hàn Jiǎo, but deeply loyal to his friends and allies. He also seems to hold a great deal of respect for the swordsman Shāng Bù Huàn. He is not above roasting both friends and foes alike, and he can be somewhat goofy at times.

His primary motivation is his bond with Làng Wū Yáo. Because he was born from soaking in Làng Wū Yáo's magical power, their connection is described as being deeper than blood. He is fiercely protective of Làng Wū Yáo and acts in his interest, particularly in aiding his quest for revenge against the demon Azibělpher, Làng Wū Yáo's father. He is also motivated by a sense of loyalty to his newfound allies.

In the story, Liè Mó Xián first appears in the episode A Heart, Entrusted, where he transforms from Líng Yá to fight off a horde of Hàn Jiǎo that threaten the sleeping Làng Wū Yáo. After defeating them, he intends to fight Azibělpher on Làng's behalf but is foiled by Xíng Hài, who seals him inside a force field using a Scrying Mirror. He is later freed by Lǐn Xuě Yā and Shāng Bù Huàn. After his release, he explains the situation regarding Làng Wū Yáo and scolds Bù Huàn and Xuě Yā for being too late to prevent Azibělpher from taking Wū Yáo away. He continues to play a role in the conflict within the Demon Realm, eventually joining forces with Shāng Bù Huàn and others to face greater threats.

Key relationships include his profound and unbreakable bond with Làng Wū Yáo, to whom he is intensely loyal. He also has a respectful rapport with Shāng Bù Huàn and interacts with Lǐn Xuě Yā. He is antagonistic toward Azibělpher and Xíng Hài.

Liè Mó Xián's development centers on his transition from an instrument to an independent, thinking being with his own agency. While his loyalty to Làng Wū Yáo remains his core drive, he begins to interact with other characters and form his own opinions and alliances, showing growth beyond his original role as a mere tool or companion.

His notable abilities revolve around his body's transformation into a weapon. He has strings embedded inside his body, called Mó Shā Zhī Yīn, which can be translated as Demon-Slaying Notes. He can shoot these strings from his fingers at will to pierce or wrap around objects. This ability also enables him to grab objects and move them by embedding the strings in them and tugging, and he can propel himself through the air by using the strings as swinging ropes. He also has a technique called Demonic Strings: Soul-Binding Sutures, which he uses to trap enemies in place.
