Description
Lǐn Xuě Yā, whose name translates to "Austere Snow Crow," is a central figure in Thunderbolt Fantasy Sword Seekers -The Finale-. He is a master thief and a highly skilled illusionist, often operating under the alias Guǐ Niǎo, meaning "Phantom Bird." His background is deliberately shrouded in mystery, with his past, origins, and true nature remaining largely unexplored even as the story reaches its conclusion. He is known to have a long and intricate history that predates the events of the main series, including a past connection with the enigmatic figure Lián Qí, who eventually took him on as a disciple.

In terms of personality, Lǐn Xuě Yā is consistently portrayed as graceful, composed, and erudite. He carries himself with an air of refined elegance, often seen with a pipe in hand. He is exceptionally cunning and possesses a sharp, strategic mind. However, beneath his polished exterior lies a mischievous and almost playful nature. He is not driven by conventional morality or a desire for justice. Instead, his primary motivation is the pursuit of personal amusement, which he finds in the act of "stealing the pride of villains." He delights in manipulating and outwitting arrogant and self-righteous evildoers, taking pleasure in watching their schemes crumble due to their own hubris. He is not a hero in the traditional sense, but rather an antagonist to the wicked.

His role in Thunderbolt Fantasy Sword Seekers -The Finale- is that of a deuteragonist and a key player in the escalating conflict between humans and demons. He accompanies the wandering swordsman Shāng Bù Huàn into the demon realm to rescue their ally Làng Wū Yáo. Throughout the film, he operates with his characteristic blend of deception and direct action, infiltrating the Demon Lord's castle by assuming the identities of various demons to sow confusion and gather intelligence. His role is critical in confronting the Demon Lord, who is revealed to be a mirror image born from a discarded portion of Lǐn Xuě Yā's own soul, making their battle deeply personal.

Key relationships define much of his role in the story. The most significant relationship is with Shāng Bù Huàn. The two share a deep, complex bond built on years of shared adventures and mutual understanding, though they operate from very different philosophies. Shāng Bù Huàn is one of the few individuals who can consistently see through Lǐn Xuě Yā's disguises, and he often serves as a grounding force. Despite Lǐn Xuě Yā's playful mischief, there is a clear, unspoken trust and camaraderie between them. He also has notable interactions with other characters, including the demoness Xíng Hài, with whom he shares a history, and Làng Wū Yáo, whom he helps by using his illusions to turn him invisible.

In terms of development, Lǐn Xuě Yā remains a consistent and enigmatic figure throughout the finale. While the film delves into his mystical connection to the Demon Lord, his core personality does not undergo a dramatic transformation. Instead, the narrative reinforces his nature as a being who operates on a different plane from ordinary mortals, driven by his own inscrutable code. His development is less about personal change and more about the revelation of his profound and otherworldly origins.

Lǐn Xuě Yā possesses a range of notable abilities that make him a formidable force. His primary skill is his mastery of illusion and deception. He can alter his own appearance and voice to perfectly mimic others, a talent he uses extensively to infiltrate enemy ranks. He also uses a hallucinogenic smoke from his signature pipe, which can deceive all five senses and create illusions indistinguishable from reality. Beyond his trickery, he is a highly skilled swordsman. His sword, named Yān Yuè or "Smoky Moon," is concealed within his pipe. His signature technique, White Heavens Lunar Crater Vapor, is an advanced sword art that uses internal energy to generate extreme cold, freezing an opponent before delivering a swift, fatal strike that leaves no external mark until the body's warmth returns. He also demonstrates competence with a chain concealed in his pipe, and by placing gunpowder in the pipe's barrel, he can expel powerful bursts of flame. He is also adept at using the cursed sword known as the Night of Mourning, which allows him to control the movements and abilities of anyone it cuts.
