Description
I. Newton is a character from the anime Petals of Reincarnation, where he appears as a reincarnation of the historical English physicist and mathematician Isaac Newton. He is a founding member of the Forest of the Greats, an organization of Returners who seek world peace. Within this group, he is considered a core, veteran leader and, alongside A. Einstein, is regarded as one of the two strongest and most important members, often referred to as the big two.

In terms of personality, Newton is depicted as a complex figure who blends a sharp, strategic mind with an approachable and somewhat whimsical nature. He boasts a battle-hardened talent and cool judgment, typically displaying a calm, composed, and intelligent demeanor. At the same time, he is known for being talkative and easygoing, possessing a comparatively child-like demeanor when compared to his more serious comrades. He also has an eccentric and unusual habit; when he is punched, he yells out different varieties of apples. This quirky behavior, which includes him displaying a cheerful side, stands in stark contrast to his otherwise rational and sometimes self-important image.

Newton is deeply motivated by his role within the Forest of the Greats and his bonds with its members. He is fiercely protective of his friends, especially his partner Einstein, whom he is willing to protect even at the cost of his own life. His most significant relationship is with Einstein, with whom he has worked closely as a combat and transport operative, forming the backbone of the organization's power. The history between them, along with others like Nightingale, forms a key part of the backstory. Newton’s role in the story is primarily as a powerful ally and a senior strategist for the main characters, using his immense abilities to combat the Sinners, the organization of reincarnated villains. His character undergoes notable development, particularly in story arcs where he comes under the influence of an enemy talent, forcing his former allies to risk their lives in a desperate battle to save him.

As a Complete Returner, his powers are permanently manifested, meaning he does not revert to an original form and his abilities are constantly active. Newton’s notable ability is called Fruit of Gravity. This talent allows him to control gravity at will. Using an apple-shaped device, he can manipulate gravitation within a limited range of approximately four meters, which enables him to either make objects float or crush them with immense force.
