Xiang Yi, also known as Kou Yoku, serves as a prominent military commander from Chu, leading the specialized Kou Yoku Army. This force began as a 1,000-man elite unit attached to the Rin Bu Kun Army and expanded to 10,000 soldiers following Rin Bu Kun's death. He exhibits a highly aggressive and arrogant personality, frequently taunting enemies with loud, provocative behavior and intense combat enthusiasm, often mocking opponents as cowards to provoke engagement. Despite this brash exterior, he holds deep loyalty for mentors and comrades, particularly the late Rin Bu Kun, whom he greatly respected, and his close friend Haku Rei, with whom he toured Chu's southern battlelines for years. His exceptional combat prowess fueled a rapid military rise, advancing from 100-man commander to 1,000-man commander during tours along Chu's southern frontiers. During the Sanyou conflict, he clashed with Qin forces, notably facing the Hi Shin Unit's commander Shin; while dismissive of Shin's abilities afterward, he acknowledged the threat posed by Qin's younger generation. In the Coalition Invasion Arc, Chu General Ka Rin promoted him to 5,000-man commander and tasked him with assassinating Qin Great General Tou. This mission initiated his enduring rivalry with Tou, whom he failed to defeat in multiple confrontations. His unit later fought in southern campaigns against Qin, including the Battle of Gento. Promoted to full general, Xiang Yi joined the Juuko campaign to repel Qin's Mou Bu. He engaged the Roku O Mi Army and again confronted Tou, but strategic interruptions by Ran Bi Haku allowed Tou to bypass him, capture Chu's headquarters, and force a withdrawal. He wields the Bakuya Sword, a historical treasure, and his swordsmanship ranks among the most formidable. His ownership of this weapon and shared surname with Chu's Great General Kou En (Xiang Yan) suggest a potential familial relationship, though unconfirmed. Later campaigns saw him lead an additional 30,000 troops to capture Qin's Keifu city, exploiting Qin's military weaknesses after losses to Zhao. His story arc consistently revolves around his unachieved goal of defeating Tou, pursued across numerous battles in multiple campaigns.
